Per PWInsider, Jeff Hardy is backstage at the venue hosting tonight’s SmackDown Live.
Besides, a few additional details on the same have also been revealed.
In case you didn’t know…
Hardy recently returned from an injury hiatus which had kept him out of action since late-2017.
Having fully rehabbed his torn rotator cuff, Hardy was swiftly booked into a prominent angle on RAW.
The heart of the matter
It was on this week’s edition of RAW that United States Champion Jinder Mahal was revealed as one of the Superstars who’ve been drafted from SmackDown to RAW.
On his very first night back on RAW, Mahal competed in a title matchup against The Charismatic Enigma—one that saw Hardy defeat the Modern Day Maharaja to become the new United States Champion.
Nevertheless, in a backstage interview after the aforementioned matchup, Mahal confirmed that he’ll indeed be facing Hardy in a rematch for the US title later this month.
Furthermore, the vast majority of professional wrestling industry experts believe that Hardy and Mahal are set to continue their feud for the remainder of this month.
Accordingly, Hardy is now said to be present backstage at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island for tonight’s SmackDown Live episode.
What’s next?
Newly-crowned WWE United States Champion Hardy is set to defend his title against Mahal at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV which takes place at the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on April 27th.
Following which, the Superstar who emerges as the US Champion after the aforementioned matchup will go on to defend the title against Randy Orton at WWE’s Backlash PPV on May 6th.
