The beautiful thing about the Money In the Bank contract is that it can make a star overnight. You can go from being dwindling on the pre-show, to main eventing pay per views for years to come.

For Jack Swagger, things didn't quite turn out that way.

Swagger won the coveted briefcase in the largest MITB ladder match, defeating 9 other opponents to win. It was a bad sign that the Oklahoma native took an age to unhook the briefcase.

Cashing in on the immediate Friday Night SmackDown, Swagger defeated a prone Chris Jericho to become World Champion. However, almost immediately, Swagger changed. He went from a brash, emotive in your face star, to a quiet, reserved, stone-faced champion. His reign didn't last long, losing the title to Rey Mysterio in a Fatal 4-Way, and Swagger, despite teaming with Dolph Ziggler and claiming the US Title later in his career, never truly recovered.
