Tama Tonga injury update: The Bad Boy sustains injury during recent NJPW show

Tama Tonga may be injured.

What’s the story?

As reported by Cagesideseats, Tama Tonga allegedly sustained an injury at a recent NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) show.

In case you didn’t know...

Tama Tonga (real name- Alipate Fifita) is widely regarded as one of the more popular stars in the Japanese pro-wrestling scene, having debuted in NJPW back in 2010. Tonga is also a notable member of the famed stable ‘Bullet Club’ and is a former 2-time IWGP tag team champion and one-time NEVER Openweight 6-man tag-team champion.

The heart of the matter

If one is to believe the rumour mill, the 34-year old Tongan professional wrestler, who recently made waves by trolling WWE Superstars Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, might be injured as of now.

Tonga is one of NJPW’s top stars and a second generation pro-wrestling competitor who was adopted by veteran performer Tonga Fifita (Haku). He is presently pursuing the IWGP tag team championship, a title that he has held a couple of times in the past with Tanga Roa.

What’s next?

Neither Tama Tonga nor NJPW representatives have confirmed his alleged injury as of the time of this writing. Further details will be revealed as the story unfolds in the days to come.

Author’s take

Tama Tonga is one of the best in-ring performers and personalities outside the WWE today. He is a bonafide talent and were he to jump ship to the WWE or any other promotion in the States, as of today, he’d be an instant hit with the fans.

Nevertheless, should the rumours regarding his alleged injury be true, we wish ‘Bad Boy’ a safe and speedy recovery.
