Why did The WWE give up on Asuka?

No one knows the reason to make Asuka lose her streak in a Championship match at WrestleMania 34, but whatever it was, it seemed to be the right move given how stale the character was becoming.

Not only was that evident by her cringe-worthy promo skills whenever she picked up the microphone, but also by her limited storytelling ability in the ring.

Asuka was only capable of telling two stories inside the ring even remotely well. One was the small, but aggressive babyface that could overcome anything, and the other was a submission machine that no Superstar was safe from.

While both storylines did have their moments and made way for some great matches, it all became old very quick.

With that being said, maybe Asuka losing her push at WrestleMania 34 was a good thing and WWE can turn its attention to Superstars that are more capable of getting the fans behind them then she was.

Of course, that doesn't mean WWE can't come back to Asuka's dominant streak one day and give her a run with the title, but they really need to fine-tune some things first.
