The biggest winners and losers of WWE Crown Jewel 2019

Better late than never.
Better late than never.

Loser: Cain Velasquez

Hopefully, this was Cain Velasquez's one and only match in WWE, because there's little coming back from this. The man who menaced Brock Lesnar, who was promoted as having his number, tapped out in about two minutes, not even bothering to fight and get to the ropes.

This was as close to a burial as it gets, and it really makes you wonder why WWE ended Kofi Kingston's title reign so anticlimactically if this was what they were going to do with the Brock vs. Cain fight that they wanted.

There are no winners here, truly. Everyone on SmackDown looks bad as a result of this. The entire food chain was upended for no real reason.

Loser: Braun Strowman

Once again, WWE just can't help itself by having any D list celebrity go over its own talent. For Braun Strowman, it's the latest in a long string of high profile losses. The company will let him menace everyone on the weekly shows, but will never let him get a truly big victory on pay per view. That's been the pattern for two years now and yesterday's show was no exception.

Braun Strowman lost by countout, true, after a taking a hard hit. He came back to powerslam Tyson Fury in the aftermath. However, we're left with the impression that, once again, Strowman chokes on the biggest stages.

And who will really reap the benefit?
