This iconic finishing move was performed by none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin would hit his opponent in the groin and then apply a three-quarter face lock and drive their jaw onto his shoulders.
The move looks like the RKO where the opponent’s face is brought smashing down in the mat using a three-quarter face lock.
The Stunner was introduced to the fans when Austin performed it on WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon. It began a revolution as it propelled Austin into main wrestling events and WWE into the Attitude era.
Fans will be forever be grateful to Michael Hayes who suggested Austin use the stunner as his finishing move. The Stone Cold Stunner will forever be known as a simple popular finishing move in WWE history.
Almost every wrestler who had a long term feud with The Rattlesnake received the wrath of the stunner. Who can forget Austin’s back-to-back stunners against Scott Hall in WrestleMania X8 which gave Austin it’s very first title?
