What a mess this was.
Although the women's Money in the Bank ladder match was supposed to be a crucial next step in the women's revolution, it became nothing more than a cruel joke when James Ellsworth captured the briefcase and threw it down to Carmella. In fact, it was a huge black mark on the women's revolution, and set the division back a bit in the process

Of course WWE tried to rectify this by doing another Money in the Bank match a few weeks later, but the damage was already done, and fans were still furious over how the original match was booked. Furthermore, they were upset that WWE choose to put the briefcase on Carmella, when there was a plethora of better options to choose from.
This might sound like sour grapes, but with the amount of time WWE spent building the prestige and the first ever nature of this match up, it was a huge downer that it ended how it did. To be fair though, WWE did do a great job with future women's Money in the Bank matches, and it seems like they will do better in the future.
