The modern era in WWE has overseen numerous changes in its ideology and the manner in which superstars are now being portrayed for their target audience. Divas are now superstars with a certain Becky Lynch currently ruling the roost in the WWE, signaling towards a women's revolution at its peak.

The development of NXT and NXT UK now enable superstars such as Pete Dunne and Velveteen Dream to showcase their talents on a weekly basis for a more welcoming audience than before. In spite of all these radical changes, the basic motto around which the WWE revolves around has pretty much been the same: in-ring ability and mic skills.

While the wrestlers ability in the ring is given the utmost priority in most cases, the knack of cutting a promo has often been taken for granted, without which superstars such as John Cena and Rock would have never achieved the kind of stardom they are experiencing right now.

Walking along the aforementioned, there are several superstars who have made their name through their impeccable mic-skills to back their insane wrestling ability. Here are a few of them who have mastered the art of cutting a promo and currently rank amongst the very best in the business.

Honorable Mentions: John Cena, Paul Heyman and Randy Orton

#5 Alexa Bliss

Currently being eased into action by WWE management, Alexa Bliss is one of the best on the mic as far as the women's division is considered. Her promos have often being subjected to critical appreciation with her spontaneity doing her a world of good.

She even has her own talk show to back the claim up with 'Moment of Bliss' being featured multiple times on Monday Night Raw. Bliss was at her best during 2017 when she overpowered the likes of Bayley and Sasha Banks on the mic invariably helping her to hold on to the Raw Women's Championship for a relatively long period of time.

Her brash and cocky style of promos has often done the trick in establishing her as one of the best heels in WWE. With rumours circling over Charlotte and Becky's impending jump to the Raw roster, Bliss' stardom and promos could be the perfect replacement for the duo as Smackdown looks to cut the gap between them and Raw.

#4 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens shocked the WWE Universe when he beat John Cena in his debut match but it wasn't his ability inside the ring that took people by surprise - it was his attitude and the sheer brilliance in his promos.

He was one of very few superstars who stood up to John Cena with the mic in hand. KO has often created magic with his promos in the story-line with Chris Jericho and the List of Jericho.

His stand-off with then-WWE Champion AJ Styles in the build-up to Survivor Series 2016 was an instant classic where Kevin Owens completely dominated Styles in what was a typical example of his class on the mic.

With Owens currently on the sidelines and slated to make a return to the main roster before Wrestlemania 35, WWE fans would be itching to be greeted with one of his famous promos soon.

#3 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe and his rants have become somewhat legendary amongst the fans. His vicious promo in the build-up to this year's Elimination Chamber match has paved the way for an intense match this Sunday. Joe is one of the best talkers on the mic with his heelish promos being the best of 'em all.

Even in what seemed to be a stale feud with Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe ripped apart the Beast Incarnate and his advocate, Paul Heyman with a series of scathing promos adding more context to what was a great but brief storyline between the two.

It still baffles many to see Samoa Joe stuck in the mid-card considering his promo skills with some even touting him to be the best heel in the company. With the Road to Wrestlemania underway, this could well be his year to finally deliver on his devilish promos with a solid championship run.

#2 Becky Lynch

Over the last year, no one has captivated the WWE audience as Becky has been able to do. In fact, everyone worried over the departure of Roman Reigns due to leukaemia as there was no other superstar who could command the same authority as the Big Dog on a regular basis.

But Becky Lynch has quickly risen to the fore to set up an enticing storyline with Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair en route to establishing herself as the 'The Man'. It is a testament to her mic skills that have made this possible with Becky often cutting out brash and arrogant promos that are quite reminiscent of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Becky's in-your-face attitude has been backed by her effective promos skills as well as making the gimmick change in mid-2018 one of the most crucial ones in WWE history. While Becky's current feud sees her suspended and replaced by Charlotte Flair, fans are in for a treat for the next one month or so with the Man waiting to unleash a couple of fear-inducing promos upon her challengers.

#1 The Miz

For the best part of a decade, the Miz has been one of the most consistent performers on the main roster with his heel gimmicks always raking in the desired heat for his opponents to get over with.

In fact, Miz was even paired with Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship to get the Big Dog over in 2017. But the fact he is the best with the mic-in hand has often been overlooked.

His 2016 bout with Daniel Bryan after an edition of Smackdown Live where he went a rant over Bryan calling him a "coward" kick-started a period of success for the A-Lister as he went to win the coveted Intercontinental Championship and the Smackdown Tag Team Championship.

Like all great talkers, the Miz was also granted a talk show on the main roster in Miz TV and has often overshadowed his opponents with his impeccable promos. His work against the likes of Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan last year was just the tip of the iceberg as far his limitless talent on the mic is concerned.
