Top 5 wrestlers who defeated The Undertaker clean in singles matches

The Undertaker
A victory over The Undertaker is always seen as special

The Undertaker is arguably one of the greatest Superstars in the history of WWE. There is no other wrestler who captivates the crowd like he does.

He made his debut way back in 1990 and possibly has the least number of losses. So any loss for him is a monumental moment.

A victory over the Deadman is always special. His push in WWE was always different from others.

Despite not always being in the title picture, Taker enjoyed massive fan support. However, the Undertaker has his share of defeats.

Whether putting a new guy over him or letting his WrestleMania streak end at 21-0, few superstars have managed to do what many dreamt of - beating the Undertaker.

Here are five such wrestlers.

Honorable Mentions: The Ultimate Warrior, Triple H, and Stone Cold Steve Austin

#5 Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 33)

Is this Roman's yard now?
Is this Roman's yard now?

Roman Reigns became only the second person to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania. In the main event of WrestleMania 33, Reigns hit three spears to the phenom before pinning him and rewriting history.

After the match, The Undertaker symbolically left his gloves, coat, and hat in the centre of the ring, hinting that this was possibly his last match.

The match received mixed reviews, and the fans were quite upset about it. Rarely breaking kayfabe, Taker hugged his wife who was sitting ringside and bade farewell to WWE Universe.

The victory had a great impact on Reigns as it has quickly transitioned him to be the future of WWE. 2017 was the year of The Big Dog, as he had meaningful rivalries which anchored him to be the face of WWE, and it all started with overcoming the Phenom.

#4 Vladimir Kozlov (SmackDown February 2009)

This was shocking.
The Moscow Mauler had a surprise win

Probably the most shocking defeat for the Undertaker came by Vladimir Kozlov.

Believed to be the next big thing, WWE put Kozlov over the Undertaker by reversing an Old School into a Powerslam and picking up a surprising win.

WWE tried its hardest to push the Moscow Mauler by him defeating the Undertaker cleanly. His push was discarded as Kozlov was a disastrous in-ring worker. Just imagine the wrestler who became a laughing stock later, is one the few fortunate ones who beat the Deadman.

Kozlov was released in 2011 after failing to put on any significant feud. He could only manage a WWE Tag Team Championship title reign once.

#3 Kurt Angle (No Way Out 2006)

A classic encounter
It was one of the best matches of the Deadman's career

No Way out, 2006 saw one of the best matches of The Undertaker's career.

Kurt Angle and The Deadman tore the house down with both the Superstars giving their all. Undertaker applied a Triangle Choke on Angle, but the Olympic Gold Medallist countered, rolling him up to retain the title.

The match, which was for the World Heavyweight Championship, lasted just shy of 30 minutes.

After the match, Taker pulled Angle up off the mat and hugged each other. This match was something special as it was a technical masterpiece between two of the top superstars in WWE.

Angle and the Undertaker went on to have several great matches, but the 2006 No Way Out classic will be the one, that will be remembered for ages.

#2 Batista (Cyber Sunday 2007)

A huge win in Batista's career

Batista vs The Undertaker was one of the best rivalries of the 2000s.

The two had many great matches, but the most notable for The Animal was his victory over the Phenom at Cyber Sunday 2007.

The match was for the World Heavyweight Championship and saw Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special guest referee.

Batista hit his finisher, The Batista Bomb, and pinned The Undertaker clean. The match was a monumental push for his career and put him on the top spot.

Batista went on to have important feuds with the likes of John Cena, Daniel Bryan, and others, but his rivalry with Taker was the most memorable.

#1 Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 30)

When the WrestleMania streak ended 21-1
When the WrestleMania streak ended 21-1

The Undertaker squared off against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30.

Perhaps the biggest match for both superstars, the end saw Lesnar hitting three F-5s and pinning Taker fair and square.

This was the biggest pinfall in the Undertaker's career, and possibly all of wrestling history. The streak which had lasted for 20 years, finally ended.

Whether Lesnar being the right man to end it is debatable, it paved the path for The Beast Incarnate to be the most dominant performer in WWE.

Lesnar went on to become the WWE Champion and is the current WWE Universal Champion.

A force to be reckoned with, beating Taker at the Grandest Stage Of Them All has really helped Lesnar cement his position as a commanding performer in the company.
