Top 5 WWE Superstars who have never won a main roster title

'Titles mean nothing' - Several personalities involved in professional wrestling have continuously asserted. While the physical title doesn't mean that you are a true Champion, it does reflect management's faith in a wrestler, and the gates at wrestling events are supposed to be an indication of whether the person holding the belt is a must-watch for the fans or not.

Ever since the 2000s, WWE has had a number of Championships on its roster, with the title number exploding during the Invasion storyline. While it isn't easy to win the WWE/Universal title, several mid-carders have had multiple runs with the likes of the Intercontinental/United States and Tag Team titles.

This list takes a look at top 5 WWE stars who have never held a single title in the company. Wrestlers like Sting and Ultimo Dragon who had short runs with the company are not considered.

#5 Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has never won a main roster WWE title
Sami Zayn has never won a main roster WWE title

There is time still for Sami Zayn to correct this, but it is surprising that the former 'El Generico' has never won a championship on the main roster nearly four years since his debut. While he was NXT Champion, he was never deemed worthy to even win a secondary title on RAW or SmackDown.

Zayn has competed for the United States and Intercontinental titles on the main show and had a compelling feud with Kevin Owens. But the fact that he was booked as a gullible babyface during his early run meant that he always came up short in title matches.

A heel turn alongside Kevin Owens could have been capped off with a Tag team title run, but that never came about either. Sami could be back on the main roster post WrestleMania, and hopefully, he can exorcise the demons.

#4 Lex Luger

Luger is a former WCW Champion, but never won a WWE title
Luger is a former WCW Champion, but never won a WWE title

It is surprising that Lex Luger never won a title in the company despite being heavily pushed in the 1990s. Luger was the heir apparent to Hulk Hogan, with an elaborate segment of bodyslamming foreign heel Yokozuna on the USS Intrepid supposed to catapult him to babyface superstardom.

This was followed by the 'Lex-Express', which was a tour bus in which Luger went all over the country winning over fans. However, the crowd did not warm up to him in a way that the WWE wanted. He did co-win a Royal Rumble alongside Bret Hart, which makes him the only Rumble winner never to win any title in the WWE.

He lost to WWE Champion Yokozuna at that year's Rumble and soon made his way over to WCW, where he won the WCW World title multiple times.

#3 Torrie Wilson

A surprise entry to this list, Torrie Wilson's lack of wrestling chops did not make her worthy of winning a title in the WWE anyways. However, she was the undisputed No.1 Diva on SmackDown for over four years in the mid-2000s, and the only reason she did not win the Women's title was that it was exclusive to RAW.

Torrie was immensely over with the fans and even rivalled Trish Stratus as the most popular female competitor in the company during her time in the company. She had matches at multiple WrestleManias, and is actually unbeaten at 'Mania if you don't count the Ms. WrestleMania battle royal at WrestleMania 25.

She was part of numerous feuds on SmackDown TV, all of which got a lot of air time. From a wrestling ability standpoint, she never deserved to win the Women's title, but she makes this list based on her popularity.

#2 Jimmy Snuka

Jimmy Snuka was never a champion either
Jimmy Snuka was never a champion either

Jimmy Snuka had iconic segments as part of the WWE. His splash from the top of a steel cage at Madison Square Garden was the inspiration for quite a few future WWE Champions - including Mick Foley and Jeff Hardy.

Always billed as a top talent, he was also part of the incredible Piper's Pit segment which ended with Roddy Piper blasting a coconut over his head. Snuka even had a WrestleMania return at the age of 66, taking on Chris Jericho as part of the legends vs Jericho handicap match.

Snuka held over 35 titles during his career, but he never won a title in the WWE. He held the NWA Pacific Northwest title six times and the NWA Eastern Heavyweight Championship twice, but a title in a major promotion eluded him.

Title success has also eluded Snuka's daugher, Tamina, in the Women's division.

#1 Jake Roberts

Jake Roberts did not win any titles in the WWE

Jake Roberts' name is almost exclusively associated with the WWE, but during a near 10 year full-time run with the company, he failed to win a single Championship. Roberts was a huge star attraction, and his grasp of wrestling psychology made him a top talent for management as well.

He was engaged in legendary feuds with the likes of Ricky Steamboat, The Undertaker, Randy Savage and was even involved in the match that put over Stone Cold Steve Austin at King of the Ring 1997. Despite being a heel, Roberts was cheered on by the fans even against the WWE Champion Hulk Hogan, which eventually led to his feud with the Hulkster getting scrapped.

Several addictions restricted Roberts' WWE career from becoming even greater, but it is a shame that his time with the company ended without winning a single Championship.
