Top WWE star injured, WWE issues official statement

Is this a major roadblock for the champ?

‘Injury’ is the most dreaded word in the WWE at the moment, and while the main roster is plagued with high-profile injuries, NXT too is going through the same fate gradually.

At the recent NXT live event in Nashville, NXT Champion Finn Balor suffered a sprained ankle, according to PWInsider. Balor will go under evaluation to determine the exact details of the injury and its seriousness.

WWE issued this statement on the same:

NXT Champion Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury on Saturday during an NXT Live Event in Nashville, Tenn. According to WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann, “Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury, and will be unable to compete tonight.”

The NXT Champion will undergo further evaluation on Monday, Amann said.

The NXT Champion was seen sporting crutches and was also rested for the NXT live event in Indianapolis as a precautionary measure. In spite of the minor setback, Balor’s spirits were high, who took to Twitter to post a picture of himself in the crutches.

Only time will tell how the injury would affect the Irishman’s schedule going forward and the status of his NXT Championship. If it is a serious injury, he may have to drop the title and take some time off, but by the looks of it, that wouldn't be the case hopefully.

It seems the injury might have been caused due to his finisher Coup de Grace that he executed on Samoa Joe that you can watch it below:
