What's the story?

Triple H recently spoke with The Independent in the promotion of the Greatest Royal Rumble event on Friday.

During the interview, The Game discussed the fact that women are not on the 10-match card.

In case you didn't know...

The Greatest Royal Rumble is a part of a 10-year partnership between the WWE and Saudi General Sports Authority in support of Saudi Vision 2030; which is the country's new social and economic reform program.

The heart of the matter...

In regards to there not being any women featured on the Greatest Royal Rumble card, Triple H acknowledged people questioning it, but mentioned that everyone needs to understand that not every culture is the same.

He would further expand in the quote below:

"I understand that people are questioning it, but you have to understand that every culture is different and just because you don’t agree with a certain aspect of it, it doesn’t mean it’s not a relevant culture. You can’t dictate to a country or a religion about how they handle things but, having said that, WWE is at the forefront of a women’s evolution in the world and what you can’t do is affect change anywhere by staying away from it.

He also mentioned that while women are not competing in this Friday's Greatest Royal Rumble, the WWE has had discussions to include women in shows in the future. He hopes that there will be a time where it is culturally accepted.

“The country is in the middle of a shift in how it is dealing with that – the position is changing, and rights are changing, as are the way women are handled and treated in society. We think that’s a great thing and we’re excited to be at the forefront of that change.”

Similar cultural barriers were broken down when Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss wrestled a match at the live event in Abu Dhabi this past December.

What's next?

The Greatest Royal Rumble event is just a few days away when it takes place live on the WWE Network Friday, April 27th.

The event will be held at the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Author's take...

It's great for Triple H to do this interview and tackle the subject head-on. People are quick to be outraged without knowing all of the facts.

He did a great job explaining why there are not any women on the card for Friday's show; while letting everyone know that they are working with Saudi Arabia as part of their 10-year partnership to progress their culture.
