The creative regime of Triple H is moving toward WWE Night of Champions 2025. The company has already announced a few high-profile matches for the show. However, the match for IYO Sky is yet to be announced. The Women's World Champion was also notably absent from the 2025 Money in the Bank Premium Live event.
She was only featured on RAW this week in a backstage segment with Kairi Sane and Nikki Bella. Amid this, there is a possibility that the Game might strip IYO SKY as Women's World Champion. The rationale behind this surprise move will be the Geniuns of the Sky breaking a long-standing rule in the Stamford-based promotion.
The company has many rules that have been in place for years. One of the regulations, which was introduced in 2013, requires a champion to defend their title at least once within a 30-day or one-month period. This rule was implemented to remove the title from those champions who either suffered an injury or were inactive.
The last time IYO defended her title was at WrestleMania 41: Sunday, where she defeated Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. Since then, the former Damage CTRL member has only competed in non-title matches on RAW.
WrestleMania 41 Sunday took place on April 20, 2025, which means it has been more than a month since SKY last defended her title. Looking at these stats, Triple H may use the old traditional rule and could punish the 35-year-old star and strip the title away from her.
However, the chances of this scenario unfolding are not very likely to happen as SKY is playing a crucial role as Women's World Champion on the red brand. Even Hall of Famer Nikki Bella also praised her backstage.
IYO SKY acquired a major WWE achievement under the Triple H regime
IYO SKY won the Women's World Championship on RAW after defeating Rhea Ripley in a title bout. Since then, SKY has been portrayed as a strong champion. She already defeated Roxanner Perez in a non-title bout a few weeks back.
Recently, SKY has achieved a major feat under the Triple H era, surpassing 100 days as the Women's World Champion on the red brand. Also, as of now, there are no signs of the Genius of Sky losing the title anytime soon.
However, Evolution 2 and SummerSlam 2025 will be interesting to watch, especially how Triple H will book IYO for both shows.
