Now that the first quarter of this year is finally behind us, it is time to take a look back at major events that transpired in the world of Professional Wrestling. We got several NXT call-ups such as Ricochet, Aleister Black, Kairi Sane, The Viking Experience and DIY (although they were sent back to NXT after a couple of appearances).

Although Superstars like EC3, Lacey Evans, Lars Sullivan and a few others were announced for the main-roster in December, they made their first impression earlier this year. Thus, we can say that nearly a dozen NXT talents have graduated in 2019 but will all, or most of them even succeed to make their mark on the main roster or will they fade to black (no pun intended) just like many others before them?

Aleister Black and Lars Sullivan are most likely to succeed as they stand out among others and have a unique personality, of some sort. Ricochet, The Viking Experience and Kairi Sane, although immensely talented, will get lost in the shuffle sooner or later. Surprisingly, WWE is not to be blamed for this.

NXT runs on the old-school model of Professional Wrestling i.e. simple story-lines and effective in-ring performances and doesn't rely on "characters". However, the main roster requires a lot more from Superstars such as a unique personality, a gimmick that sits well with the WWE Universe and their star power with the help of which their merchandise can be sold across the globe. In-ring skills, though crucial, play second fiddle to the above-mentioned skills.

To be frank, Ricochet and others haven't shown much personality ever since arriving in WWE. The "I will never back down from a challenge" attitude can only take a Superstar so far. There's no doubt that most of the call-ups have the ability to steal the show inside the ring but unless they work on improving themselves beyond that, there is a high chance that they will be transitioned to glorified enhancement talents just like Apollo Crews and other NXT alumni.
