(Video) WWE News: WWE highlights from Jinder Mahal's India tour
What’s the story?
The WWE has posted a video package highlighting Jinder Mahal’s tour of India.
Veteran WWE commentator Michael Cole even asserted that Mahal received a hero’s welcome in India.
In case you didn’t know…
Jinder Mahal is set to hold the WWE Championship until the WWE completes its tour of India in December of this year.
As we had previously reported, the WWE plans on marketing the Modern Day Maharajah as a babyface to the Indian fans.
The heart of the matter
Jinder Mahal set forth on a brief but busy journey of India a few days ago and promoted the WWE alongside high-profile celebrities and sports personalities such as cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar during the tour.
The Indo-Canadian WWE Champion’s peregrination of India netted both Mahal and WWE mainstream headlines in India. Here are a few excerpts from Michael Cole’s account of the champ’s tour:
“The Modern Day Maharajah stopped by in Mumbai and New Delhi. The WWE Champion did countless meetings, interviews highlighted in all the top Indian publications.”
“Jinder even stopped by the set of the WWE Sunday Dhamaal Show, which airs on Sony Pictures Network and is seen by millions of viewers each week. Jinder was greeted in mass by WWE fans everywhere he went, and when the WWE live tour returns to India for two blockbuster shows on Friday & Saturday, December 8th and 9th, it’ll be the first time an Indian champion will defend the WWE title on his home soil.”
Jinder Mahal challenged WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for a match at Survivor Series — a callout which the Beast is set to answer on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
Jinder Mahal is making all the right moves — be it interviews, poise, training, you name it!
Irrespective of all the negativity surrounding his reign as WWE Champion, I’d like for all of us to take a positive approach towards this young man and give him a chance to prove himself as a legitimate, top-notch Superstar.
