What next for CM Punk after an epic Championship reign?

WWE Monday Night Raw Supershow Halloween Night

Royal Rumble 2013 saw the end of a legendary 434-day WWE title reign, after Rock beat Punk last night. The biggest question in the minds of several wrestling fans is where this loss will take Punk next. Despite losing to The Rock, Punk is expected to be put in better feuds.

It is obvious now that the main event for WrestleMania 29 is Rock vs Punk II, so this leaves Punk without any opponent. So who can he fight next? I came across several wrestling sites that posted a possible match at WrestleMania between CM Punk and The Undertaker, in a streak at stake match. I would have loved this match had CM Punk retained his title at Rumble, as WWE could have sold this match as a streak vs streak match. Though Punk’s not the champion any more, this much still has the same potential to steal the event.

When Punk wrestled Jericho last year at WrestleMania, he was pitched in as a mid-carder. Despite that, the particular match stole the show for being the best technically fought match WWE has had over the past decade. You can expect the same from Punk’s match this year if it is against Undertaker, who is technically quite sound too.

Not only the match, but even the build-up to the match can seem extremely interesting. Punk has exceptional mic skills, that can even make people sceptical about Undertaker continuing his streak. The Undertaker, on the other hand, has only his streak remaining and the WWE will most probably make sure he retains this.

Now that this looks an extremely good scenario, there is this one video that has put me in a fix. I personally felt great when I heard that CM Punk will face Undertaker despite losing the title. However, there is this one video that makes me hope for a little more from the WWE.

As you can see from this video, Istanbul is going to witness a RAW Live Event on 23rd Feb. The Elimination Chamber PPV will happen on 17th Feb 2013. Does that mean that CM Punk retains his title and goes on to face The Dead Man for the WWE Championship? Though I do not believe such a thing can happen, somewhere deep within there is a great desire that it does, and I guess there are several others who feel the same too.
