Gargano and Aleister Black putting on a stellar match

With that amazing Punisher cosplay at WarGames II last night, Johnny Gargano continues his transition from fan-favourite, to anti-hero. Aleister Black served as an obstacle for Gargano, with Tommaso Ciampa still in the back of his mind.

Things would not turn out as expected for him and he would eventually succumb to the Black Mass. This match did not disappoint, exceeding the expectations of fans everywhere. Excellent exchange after excellent exchange, proving to be nothing less than a stellar bout. It would be a shock to no one at all if this was voted Match of the Year. If not that, then definitely a first runner-up.

Separately, they've proved to be more than capable of putting on amazing matches and stealing the show in the past. But together, they brought down the house with their crazy spots and fast-paced offence. Setting the bar high for the talent currently on the roster and future sports entertainers all around the world.

What shocked most people was the fact that Gargano was able to poke a hole in Aleister Black's mystique. For those that don't know, Black usually does a backflip off the middle rope into a sit-down, staring into the soul of his opponents. Apparently, Gargano did his homework on this as he wasn't phased and continued to bring his very best to the former NXT Champion.

Maybe on a different day, Gargano could've gotten the best of Black. But at NXT Takeover: WarGames II, it wasn't so. Unfortunately, Johnny's continuous dive into the dark side has once again caused him to fall short when it matters the most. Maybe one day, his cross over to "Johnny Takeover" will help him in some way. But for now, he has nothing to show for it.

Hopefully, he can get an NXT Championship run before being called up to the main roster. Some would argue that calling him up before winning the NXT Championship would do him a huge injustice. For now, where does he go? What do you think? Sound off in the comments!
