Who will be top dog on 205 Live?

<p>

Enzo Amore's sensational dismissal leaves the door wide open for a new king of the cruiserweights. Here are seven men who could take over the top spot on 205 Live.

Is there a curse on the cruiserweight division in WWE?

It certainly seems like there is. With a variety of calamities befalling those who hold WWE's light heavyweight title, such as arrests, injuries, walkouts and firings, it makes one wonder if anyone truly wants to be number one.

The fact is, holding the cruiserweight title is a prestigious honour, and even with the spate of bad luck champions and former champions have had it is still much sought after by the talent.

Here are seven men who might be the next big thing in the cruiserweight division.

#1.Cedric Alexander

The ROH alum and former tag partner of suspended star Rich Swann is a young, talented wrestler who puts on stunning performances almost every night.

Cedric also brings toughness; he competed against Tommaso Ciampa in a Fight Without Honor no DQ match that left both men changed.

Cedric's youth is the only thing that might hold him back from holding the title, though his promo ability is somewhat lacking.

#2. TJ Perkins

Despite his youthful appearance, TJ Perkins has earned wrestling veteran status due to his long tenure in the sport.

TJ is also the first Cruiserweight champion, having won the inaugural tournament. Rumor has it that Vince isn't sold on TJ's ability to carry the cruiserweight division as champion, but that didn't stop TJ the first time and it won't stop him now.

#3. Hideo Itami

Life hasn't been easy for Hideo Itami in the WWE. First, his momentum was cut short due to a shoulder injury. Then, he returned to NXT only to find that his spot had been taken by Shinsuke Nakamura.

Hideo recently ended up on 205 Live, and that is where his talents will really shine. The chances of him becoming Cruiserweight champion are quite high.

#4. Akira Tozawa

The master of the Tozawa driver has turned a lot of heads since graduating from the Dragon Gate dojo.

Mixing stiff strikes with a mean suplex game, Tozawa has already been Cruiserweight Champion once. He definitely elevates 205 Live with his list of international credentials and could be a good choice for the new champion.

#5. Gran Metalik

Lucha Libre stars often make some of the most memorable cruiserweight champions in history, with names like Rey Misterio and Juventud Guerrera on the list of all-time greats.

Gran Metalik is no exception to this tradition. He's always been booked strongly in 205 Live but has yet to capture the championship. A reign by Gran would not only result in dazzling matches for the fans, but it would expand WWE's share of the Latino market, something they have been trying to do for years.

#6. Kalisto

The former Samurai of the Sun is one of the fastest wrestlers working today and has some of the best aerial awareness of any cruiserweight, ever.

Perhaps that's why he's already enjoyed a reign as Champion on 205 Live, and why he may yet again be the man WWE turns to in their time of need. Though he's famous for flubbing a few promos, he's one of the few Lucha stars who speaks English very well, which is a big plus in the WWE's book.

#7. Noam Dar

The Israeli-born Dar has been with 205 Live since its inception and has dazzled fans with his speed and technical wrestling.

Dar has never held the Cruiserweight title, in spite of being one of the first talents signed to the 205 Live brand. His Hebrew background could be a major selling point if handled with sensitivity, and he's a fairly handsome man who looks good on posters and promotional material.

There you have it; Seven men who might be the next star of 205 Live!
