Why Hulk Hogan's return to RAW may be bad for business

WWE officially announced that Hulk Hogan will be returning to Monday Night RAW next week to honour late Gene Okerlund's legacy, in what will be a tribute segment on Monday night.

This will be Hogan's first TV appearance in a long time, and his first WWE appearance since the infamous Crown Jewel event back in November last year.

While the WWE seems to be very adamant on bringing the Hulkster to bolster dwindling ratings, this move could really backfire, as fans aren't very excited to see Hogan back in the WWE.

To start off, fans aren't exactly pumped up to see Hogan back in the WWE. In fact, Hogan getting reinstated in the Hall of Fame drew a lot of criticism from fans who believed that Hogan will not change his ways, and the apology he issued after his racist comment got leaked was half-hearted, and looked staged.

Hogan on his part, has done everything he could to get in the good books of the fans and fellow WWE Superstars, but the reaction he received backstage on his return to the company at Extreme Rules last year wasn't exactly positive.

Some of the WWE Superstars openly spoke about how they were not fully convinced that Hogan could ever mend his ways, and how they wouldn't want anything to do with the Hulkster.

Given the kind of bad press the WWE got throughout 2018, from The Fabulous Moolah controversy to their relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one would've hoped that the company would be cautious before bringing back a controversial figure like Hulk Hogan.

Hogan's appearance next week on RAW is nothing but bad optics for the WWE, and this could've been avoided, as next week's card is already stacked with a lot of top names returning to the red brand.

It will be interesting to see how Hogan's return is received, and whether or not the WWE Hall of Famer can save the company from the recent slump in TV ratings.
