We are on the road to WrestleMania and that means also means that some more legends will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. The names of WWE legends like Ultimate Warrior, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and Lita have already been confirmed, and a name has emerged for induction into the ‘celebrity wing’ of the HOF, that name is Mr. T, the guy with a mohawk and gold chains round his neck.

Mr. T has been considered for the Hall of Fame induction for last many years, but he never agreed. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter this might be the year that we finally see him getting inducted into the Hall of Fame as he has verbally agreed for it. Those of you who are wondering why WWE want him so bad, should know what he has done in/for the company:

He has won at WrestleMania… twice

Mr. T, if you don’t know, is a television personality and actor who you might remember seeing alongside Hulk Hogan. He is one of those few celebrities who have actually wrestled inside the WWE ring. He brought his ‘boxer’ persona in the WWE in light of his role in the movie, Rocky III. He, along with Hulk Hogan, won the main event match of the inaugural WrestleMania, they defeated the team of Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.

He repeated this feat at WrestleMania 2 by defeating Roddy Piper in a boxing match. While other celebrity guests make just a single appearance and don’t even wrestle, Mr. T went ahead to win twice at “The Grandest Stage of Them All’ and entertained enough to remain in the memories of the WWE Universe.

He started the tradition of celebrity appearances in the WWE

Throughout the years we have seen celebrities like Mike Tyson, Donald Trump, Drew Carey and others making appearances in the WWE, a tradition which we have enjoyed a lot, especially when we see that some celebs can even wrestle. But, little do we know that Mr. T was the one who started this tradition. He made a celebrity appearance prior to WrestleMania I and even participated in a match on the show. It was also because of his popularity in the 1980s that WrestleMania I became a success.

He is better than many other celebrity Hall of Famers

Every year many WWE legends are inducted into the HOF, but along with them we see a non-wrestler celebrity, who has appeared in the WWE in the past, getting inducted as well (in the celebrity wing). In the last three years we have seen the likes of Drew Carey, Mike Tyson and Donald Trump getting inducted into the HOF.

Except for Mike Tyson, WWE Universe didn’t quite welcome the other two names, and we can understand why. But that won’t be a problem with Mr. T who has made enough contributions to the WWE, has achieved a lot and entertained a lot. Additionally, the WWE Universe also wants to see him in the HOF.

The 30th anniversary of WrestleMania is the right time to remember the legend

Watching Mr. T’s HOF induction in the 30th year of WrestleMania will be a great way to remember the very first WrestleMania main event match, plus going by this year’s theme of ’30 years of WrestleMania,’ it’s the best time for the WWE to induct their 30-year old celeb, Mr. T. With HOF’s like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper already set to appear at WrestleMania XXX, it would be a nostalgic moment for the fans to see WrestleMania I’s main eventers together one more time. More than an induction, it is going to be a tribute to the men who made WrestleMania the biggest event in pro-wrestling.
