Why Shawn Michaels should wrestle again

WWE is bringing back a host of part-time legends for it's upcoming but as yet unnamed Saudi Arabia show on June 7, 2019.

The Undertaker, Goldberg, and Brock Lesnar are all currently advertised for the card. One notable legendary name that is currently absent from that list is two time WWE Hall of Famer, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.

Michaels competed on the last Saudi Arabia card on November 2, 2018, his first WWE match in almost a decade, in a much-maligned main event partnering Triple H versus Undertaker and Kane.

While Michaels looked decent in the bout, his partner and opponents looked like they would be best served in a wrestling retirement home. Such was the disaster of the match, and with the superb way Michaels had previously retired in an electric encounter at WrestleMania XXVI, one has to wonder whether "The Heartbreak Kid" is content with the Crown Jewel fiasco being his final ever bout.

In truth, the WrestleMania XXVI match versus Undertaker was the perfect farewell and should have remained HBK's final contest. However, it didn't, and with the Crown Jewel disappointment still fresh, surely Michaels will want to put his most recent match to rest and eliminate it from the WWE Universe's consciousness.

The only way to do this is for Michaels to wrestle again

Now, Michaels is nearly 54 years of age. He likely has very little left in the tank. However, his showing at Crown Jewel proved that he can still deliver some of his most famous spots.

If he were pitted against a younger worker, such as AJ Styles or Finn Balor for example, then HBK could well roll back the years and deliver a performance we associate with "Mr. WrestleMania".

No doubt, the Saudi Arabian Royal Family will want Michaels back on the card, and that may well happen, but the perfect third retirement for HBK after his 1998 and 2010 farewells should come at WrestleMania.

There were some rumors this year that Michaels may challenge then WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan, for the gold at WrestleMania 35. Obviously, that did not happen, but that would be a match that certainly will deliver.

The feud writes itself. Michaels trained Bryan to wrestle, and Bryan's current heel persona would be the perfect foil for HBK.

So in short, Michaels should wrestle again to eliminate memories of Crown Jewel and sign off his career with a meaningful and memorable feud and match.

Will he? That remains to be seen. But Michaels versus Bryan at WrestleMania 36 sells itself as a top of the card attraction.
