His ability to deliver ‘show-stopping performances is matched by none on the WWE roster, he not just survived, but thrived in the industry for almost a quarter of a century, and the very mention of his name evokes the utmost respect in the pro wrestling world.

Shawn Michaels will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. The Showstopper has feuded with some of the biggest names in the industry, including the likes of The Undertaker, Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Stone Cold, Batista, etc.

And over the course of a quarter of a century, Michaels gave WWE fans memories that will last a lifetime.

Who can ever forget that epic match at Bad Blood in 2004, when Triple H and Shawn Michaels, with blood gushing down their faces, pushed each other to the limits of endurance before Triple H prevailed in a nerve-wracking classic?

Or that epic Iron Man match at WrestleMania 12 against Bret Hart, where neither superstar gave an inch, and the stipulated 60 minutes yielded no result, and Michaels beat Hart after the match was again restarted with a thunderous Sweet Chin Music?

And of course, that epic Streak vs Career match at WrestleMania 26, against The Undertaker, where these two superstars took fans on an emotional roller coaster ride, before ‘The Phenom’ ended Michaels’ fabled 25-year career to go 18-0 at WrestleMania?

Shawn Michaels was one of the cornerstones of the WWE in the 1990s and the early 2000s. And that’s why the ‘Heart Break Kid’, along with Triple H and The Undertaker can stake a claim to being the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.

The greatest asset that Michaels possessed was his charisma. His walk to the ring, his ability to sell his opponent’s move, and his extraordinary skills on the mic endeared him to the WWE Universe.

After WrestleMania 26, we indeed thought that the 'Heart Break Kid' Shawn Michaels had ‘left the building’. But then, after a decade long hiatus, Michaels returned to the ring at Crown Jewel, to team up with his long-time friend, Triple H, to take on the 'Brothers of Destruction' last year. Even though the match did not live up to the hype, Michaels proved that he still had energy left in the tank.

The mind craves for one last match for Michaels, maybe at WrestleMania 36, next year. Maybe retire The Undertaker, returning the favor to the legend. But then, we do not know if Michaels will ever return to in-ring competition again.

But whatever happens, we all can be sure that Shawn Michaels has left behind a legacy - one that can't be replicated, and more importantly, a legacy that will continue to shine forth in the years to come.
