Why the WWE Universe is probably tired of Ronda Rousey

During this week’s Monday Night RAW segment featuring the former UFC star, the crowd in Phoenix expressed their feelings about the WWE RAW women’s champion, as boos filled the arena. This comes just a week after the rumor of Rousey possibly leaving the company.

The booing became so loud that Rousey not only had difficulty getting her lines out, but stuttered.

Bayley then came out to answer the open challenge championship match. After a dominating performance by Bayley, she eventually tapped out to the armbar.

Why have fans turned on Rousey?

She’s shown promise in the ring, worked on her mic skills, and managed to retain her title against some of the best the company has to offer. Though these are the pros of her time in the company, it may just be the reason people are losing interest.

Similar to Reigns when the company tried to force him on the Universe, it feels like they’re doing the same with Rousey. By her winning and holding onto the title within a short time, it shows there may be favoritism with the star. This past weekend was the final straw for the Universe.

Her victory against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble can be put in the same category as when the Rock helped Reigns win at the Rumble in 2015. When the Universe knows a star didn’t deserve a win, they let their feelings known.

However, there are reasons why the company continues to push Rousey even though the crowd has had enough of her at this point.

Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch

During RAW, Becky Lynch made her way to the ring and picked Rousey as her opponent for WrestleMania. There was a noticeable difference between who the crowd believed was the face and heel.

Since the Lynch match at Survivor Series didn’t happen, her prolonged championship reign could come to an end at WrestleMania when the two do battle for the RAW women’s championship.

Four Horsewomen match

We’ve been waiting for the four horsewomen battle for a year. Following the Banks match and lack of the other MMA women in the Rumble, it doesn’t look like it’s happening anytime soon, no matter how many times Banks throws up the four.

Perhaps with the push-back of the Lynch match, we may get a preview at WrestleMania, and the actual match at SummerSlam. If this is the plan, then 'Mania needs to come quickly before the fans get even more upset with the star.

With the road to WrestleMania underway, it will be interesting to see how WWE will build up both the Horsewomen and the Lynch feud with Rousey. Will they make her a full-blown heel by the time Mania gets here? At the moment, that would be the best move to keep her from becoming stale.
