Why WWE should not introduce separate women's tag team titles for both brands

Introducing separate tag team titles could prove to be a disaster!

On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, Vince McMahon appeared as Santa Claus and officially announced the women's tag team championships. This move was teased by the creative team for a long time, and on the Christmas special edition, the women's division finally got the tag team titles.

Now, it looks like the WWE has decided to introduce two separate pairs of tag team championships for RAW and SmackDown Live, just like they have for the men. But the key problem here is that there are lesser number of female superstars on the WWE roster compared to the male superstars.

Also, there are a lot of organised tag teams in the male division like The Bar, The Revival, The Usos, The New Day, Sanity, and The Bludgeon Brothers, who can be hailed as experts and pros in tag team wrestling.

But same cannot be said of their female counterparts.

If we look at the female division, only Sasha Banks and Bayley seem to be the perfect tag team. Other teams like the Riott Squad, Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, and the IIconics are not tag team specialists.

They do wrestle in tag team matches, but they cannot be referred to as tag team wrestlers. A lot of work needs to be done, especially on the blue brand, if the WWE is thinking to have a separate tag team division.

Monday Night RAW may not face a big problem, as they can have several tag teams like Mickie James and Alicia Fox, Ember Moon and Natalya, alongside the Riott Squad, Sasha & Bayley, and Nia & Tamina. Whereas SmackDown hardly has 3-4 tag teams.

Thus, the WWE should not have separate tag team divisions, but should have one common pair of tag team belts between the two shows, which would help in maintaining the value and prestige of the championships.
