In a shocking turn of events, The Revival received a WrestleMania match in the final leg of the Road to WrestleMania 35. Their opponents were the team of Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.

Nobody complained about this match as Ryder and Hawkins are loved performers, and Hawkins has gained quite some notoriety because of his losing streak. Then, another shocking turn of events, Ryder and Hawkins defeated The Revival and provided a climax to Hawkins' losing streak that certainly deserved a fitting conclusion at 'Mania.

The match was great, the ovation to their win was great, yet the match and the moment could have felt much bigger if only WWE had built up to this match. WWE has often been criticized for overlooking its tag division, and it again felt that the Revival was robbed of a chance to do something magical on a big stage. Even if it only meant a chance to create a compelling finish to a compelling story on the mid-card, putting over the evergreen losers as the ultimate winner.

Though Ryder and Hawkins' win made the kickoff show feel a lot more important, it'd have been more surreal if WWE had invested more in their story leading up to the show.
