Wrestling News: Maria Kanellis will graduate in 11 days

Maria has earned her bachelor's!

What's The Story?

Former WWE and TNA talent Maria Kanellis is about to graduate from college in less than two weeks!

In case you didn't know....

Maria Kanellis is currently married to former Ring of Honor and former TNA Impact star Mike Bennett. The couple got married in December of 2014, after several years of dating.

Both Mike and Maria recently parted ways with TNA in March and almost immediately after leaving TNA, the speculation began that the couple would likely head to the WWE. However, Maria has made several statements suggesting that she may very well be through with professional wrestling completely. In fact, in a social media post several months back, Maria had this to say:

“News, any news doesn't ever tell the whole story. It will be an interesting next couple months. What I know is that I’m leaving wrestling soon. I’m not exactly sure when but that's why I went back to school. I am done in May with my bachelor's and then I’m on to my master's degree.”

The heart of the matter

As previously mentioned, Maria went back to school to earn her bachelor's degree. She has been studying Sports Entertainment and Event Managment at Johnson and Wales University, which is a private university with campuses in Florida, Colorado, North Carolina and Rhode Island.

In a recent Instagram post, Maria noted that she missed the fans and that it was “almost time to get back to work, as she will be graduating in 11 days.

What's Next?

It appears Maria may take a brief break from school, after receiving her bachelor's degrees and possibly get back into wrestling until she decides to back for her masters. It’s also worth noting that rumours continue to develop on an almost daily basis regarding Mike and Maria signing with the WWE.

We reported earlier about the couple coming to SmackDown after their departure from Impact Wrestling and it may happen when you least expect it.

Authors take

I applaud anyone who decides to further their education, especially when doing so could have an impact on your career. I do believe that we will soon see Maria and Mike debuting in NXT, but who knows when? They are certainly an entertaining duo and would bring a welcome degree of unique entertainment to the table.
