WWE 205 Live Results (5/9/2017)

Spoilers for tonight’s episode of 205 Live

205 Live was actually taped this week as the WWE is currently touring Europe. The following are the results from the tapings:

Segment: Austin Aries and Jack Gallagher’s “gentleman’s toast”

Austin Aries and Jack Gallagher continued their alliance

The show opened up with an in-ring segment involving Jack Gallagher and Austin Aries.

The ring was set up with the Union Jack and a red apron cover. The two most recent pay-per-view opponents of the WWE Cruiserweight Champion shared a pint of beer for their toast until they were interrupted by the King of the Cruiserweights.

Neville ripped into both of his most recent challengers and ended up on the receiving end of chants of “wanker”. It is unknown if the chant was directed at Neville or Aries.

Match #1: Mustafa Ali vs. Tony Nese

Did Mustafa Ali continue his momentum on 205 Live?

According to the live report, this match got a lot of time. Nese overpowered Ali throughout the match while he was on offence but occasionally flashed his athleticism to show that he is worthy of the moniker of “Premier Athlete”.

Nese was close to picking up the win on several occasions, but he just couldn’t keep Mustafa Ali down. Ali finally made a comeback and put Tony Nese away with the Inverted 450 Splash for the victory.

Winner via pinfall: Mustafa Ali

Return Promo for Cedric Alexander

A promo aired stating that Cedric Alexander would be returning to the Cruiserweight division, “soon.” Alexander has been out with an injury to his right knee, and the initial recovery time was said to be 3-5 months. His last appearance on WWE television was on the February 28th episode of 205 Live.

Match #2: Akira Tozawa vs. The Brian Kendrick

Which superstar learnt a lesson this time around?

Kendrick and Tozawa continued their rivalry in the main event of the show tonight. The match saw Kendrick do whatever he could to retain control of the match. Tozawa finally mounted a comeback and was victorious when he rolled Kendrick up for the three count.

The match was said to go about ten minutes or so. It was also noted that Kendrick attacked Tozawa after the match was over.

Winner via pinfall: Akira Tozawa

Overall, this seems like a pretty solid episode of 205 Live with only two matches. I’ll be very interested to see what kind of quality that those four men are able to produce. I’m also very excited to hear that Cedric Alexander will be making his return soon, as he’s been a personal favourite of mine in the Cruiserweight division since its inception.
