During the first round matches of the 2019 King of the Ring, Samoa Joe took out the equally good Cesaro in one of the best matches of the month and progressed to the quarter-final. He will now face Ricochet who overcame all odds to defeat one of the favorites Drew McIntyre to progress in the tournament.
Joe specializes in putting down smaller opponents and may have found the right man to compete against in the quarter-finals. We have seen Joe dominate Rey Mysterio earlier, and we could see him do the same to Ricochet on Monday Night.
As one of the premier athletes in the quarterfinals, Joe seems like the best man to win the tournament and use the title of King to the best effect in his promos. Heels have usually used titles in their favor much better than babyfaces to annoy the WWE Universe, and this could be the boost that Joe needs to shoot to the top of the roster.
