WWE: 5 things that MUST happen on Raw & SmackDown Live this week

WWE should avoid a clash between these two heavyweights for now

The announcement of the King of the Ring tournament has stepped up the action inside the ring on both Raw and SmackDown Live..

Last week we witnessed four great round matches as part of the tournament, in which Samoa Joe, Andrade, Elias, and Cedric Alexander managed to progress to the quarterfinals.

Apart from that, WWE has also been working on some major storylines involving top Superstars, which could result in some high-profile matches in the coming weeks.

To keep the flow going, WWE must ensure to keep the quality of content up in the coming week on both Raw and SmackDown Live.

In this article, we will look at 5 things that WWE must do to keep the fans interested and build on current storylines.

#5 Kevin Owens issues one final challenge

Let us end this once and for all
Let us end this once and for all

Kevin Owens is just a simple guy who likes to fight and win titles. As a former Universal Champion, he is one of the most accomplished NXT exports in WWE today.

Recently, Owens has voiced out his problems related to Shane McMahon, which hasn’t worked in his favour. After a match between the two at SummerSlam where Owens’ career was on the line, we believed the rivalry was done and dusted for good.

However, WWE decided to prove us wrong, and Shane has continued to put Owens at a disadvantage, with the latest instance causing him to lose to Elias in the King of the Ring first round match.

Owens will definitely not be happy with Shane at all, and we will surely see him come out on SmackDown Live this coming week to voice his anger. Will he challenge Shane to one final match, hopefully with Shane’s career on the line this time? WWE must do something grand to end this Shane and Owens feud for fans to get something major out of the rivalry.

#4 Sami Zayn finds another lost soul to guide

Cesaro and Zayn have great chemistry in the ring

After putting their heads together for several months, WWE finally seems to have found out what to do with two of their biggest superstars.

After a string of bad booking decisions and losses, Sami Zayn appeared on the Miz TV this week only to announce that he has decided to provide guidance to some superstars. He revealed Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura to be the first beneficiary of his services.

While Nakamura could end up being the only superstar under Zayn’s guidance for some time, what if Zayn also finds a superstar to manage on the red brand?

Zayn will only be able to reach out to Nakamura through the Wild Card Rule as both men are on separate brands. Therefore it makes sense that Zayn finds someone on Raw to continue guiding them even after the Wild Card Rule comes to an end.

Will AOP return this coming week with a new mouthpiece? Or will Cesaro or EC3 find someone who can help them get to the top? We will have to wait and find out the answers on Monday night!

#3 Ricochet defeats Drew McIntyre

Samoa Joe is one of the red-hot favorites to win the tournament
Samoa Joe is one of the red-hot favorites to win the tournament

Last week on Raw, two of WWE’s finest heels, Cesaro and Samoa Joe, came face to face in the first King of the Ring round match. After a stellar performance by both men, which gave us the match of the night, Joe defeated Cesaro to progress in the tournament.

While it was heartbreaking to watch a man like Cesaro choke out to Joe, WWE seems to have made the right decision to allow Joe to progress in the tournament.

Joe will either meet Ricochet or Drew McIntyre in the quarterfinals of the tournament after Ricochet and McIntyre do battle on Raw this coming week.

While McIntyre seems like the favorite to pull off a victory over his smaller opponent, WWE must book the match in such a way that Ricochet picks up an upset win over the Scottish Psychopath.

The reason for this is to protect a McIntyre and Samoa Joe match for later, as two huge heels should not simply go against each other in a King of the Ring quarterfinal. A loss for either man would hurt their villainous image, and Ricochet could play the part of rolling up McIntyre for a victory to lose to Joe later in the tournament.

#2 Ali and Murphy give us the match of the month

Ali and Murphy should give us a performance to remember
Ali and Murphy should give us a performance to remember

Ali and Buddy Murphy are arguably the best Cruiserweights we have seen in WWE in a long time. Their athleticism, skills, and wrestling technique are unmatched, and that has allowed them to progress to the main roster to much fanfare.

Ali has already had some top quality matches against men like Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Andrade since moving to the main roster, and the WWE Universe is now ready to see him become the next big thing.

Murphy, on the other hand, was wrapped up and kept aside as SmackDown’s best-kept secret until the eagle eyes of WWE fans noticed him in Roman Reigns’ mystery attack footage.

Now that Murphy has risen up th ranks and already fought against Roman Reigns as well as scored a surprising win against Daniel Bryan, we are ready to see him progress to the next stage.

The two men will meet in the King of the Ring tournament, and we expect them to put on a match that fans will remember for days to come. Murphy already had a top-class match against Bryan on SmackDown last week, and we hope he can take the momentum forward. Ali, on the other hand, has proven what he can do between the ropes.

#1 Roman Reigns finally finds his real attacker

Will we finally find out who attacked Roman Reigns?
Will we finally find out who attacked Roman Reigns?

Roman Reigns’ mystery attacker has been on the loose for several weeks and the mystery seems to keep getting more and more complicated.

After Buddy Murphy told Reigns that he saw Rowan at the crime scene, Rowan and Daniel Bryan called him a liar and revealed a lookalike of Rowan as the alleged attacker.

WWE has not got their hands firmly wrapped around the storyline, and should not let it slip by throwing another silly or bizarre segment into the mix. Rather, they should hit the nail on the head on SmackDown this week.

With a Reigns vs Brayn feud in the rumor mill, WWE should cash in at this point and use this week’s show to reveal the real attacker and the motives behind the attack. This would give the superstars ample time to build on the feud in the coming weeks leading up to the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
