WWE announced that four invitational tournaments for the WWE UK, NXT North American, NXT Tag Team and NXT Women's titles would take place during their Axxess shows, and here are the results for the first session of tournament matches, including Keith Lee defending his WWN Championship against NXT star Kassius Ohno.
Before we get started with the results I feel it's important to note that it does look like there were ringside cameramen recording this event, so there's a good chance we're going to get the Axxess tournaments on the WWE Network.
Keith Lee Def. Kassius Ohno - WWN Championship Match - Whilst it's not a surprise that Lee retained his title, it should go down as somewhat of a surprise that Lee pinned a contracted WWE talent inside a WWE ring at a WWE event.
Trent Seven & Tyler Bate (Moustache Mountain) Def. Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss - WWE NXT Tag-Team Invitational First Round - Tyler Bate has recovered from the injury that took him out of the Dusty Rhodes Classic it seems
Fabian Aichner Def. Jason Kincaid - NXT North American Championship Invitational First Round - Jason Kincaid is an Evolve talent, so no surprises Aichner went over here.
Nikki Cross Def. Aliyah - No shocks here.
Lio Rush Def. Buddy Murphy - This must be considered somewhat of an upset given the barnstormers Murphy has had on 205 Live over the last few weeks.
Here are the brackets for the tournaments courtesy of WWE's WrestleMania Twitter page. As you can see Moustache Mountain will go on to face the winners of the Street Prophets vs Adrian Jaoude and Cezar Bononi, Nikki Cross will face either Dakota Kai or Lacey Evans, Aicher will meet Akira Tozawa or Kona Reeves and finally Lio Rush will face either Raul Mendoza or Lince Dorado.
