WWE Backlash: 7 Questions that will be answered

Backlash WWE 2018
Backlash is live this Sunday

WWE Backlash will emanate from Prudential Center on May 6. Traditionally, it was utilized as a pay-per-view to end the ongoing Wrestlemania feud. This year too, it serves a similar duty.

However, the rope doesn't end there. There are various burning questions in the minds of pro-wrestling fans.

WWE likes to take it one at a time and won't give away everything at once. Nonetheless, the fans will know the answer to some of them.

Here are seven questions that will be answered at Backlash and we hope they answer it fittingly.

#7 Is Big Cass ready to receive the push?

Big Cass is ready to receive a push

A major singles push was in store for Big Cass last year. Unfortunately, a torn ACL halted it abruptly and took out eight precious months of his solo career. But, now he is back and looks stronger than before.

The 30-year-old has cut some terrific promos in the past weeks. However, we can't say the same about his in-ring ability.

Daniel Bryan will bring the best out of him. Even a clean loss for him won't hurt his chances. It is he who has to capitalize on it. The fans have firm belief that Big Cass won't squander the opportunity and prove his worth.

#6 How will inter-branded matches turn out to be?

The background between Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns is pretty absurd
The background between Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns is pretty absurd

Backlash is meant to settle Wrestlemania disputes and not create inter-branded feuds. There may be only two matches of such kind but it can play a vital role in making the show a failure.

We know that Miz and Samoa Joe are going to lose to put over the babyfaces. Moreover, these matches won't have any further implications on their Smackdown journey.

These matches are as meaningless as an imprint on a worn out coin. However, WWE has made gems out of it in the past. 'AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor' and 'Charlotte vs. Asuka' are some recent examples of it.

Will these matches transform into gems or remain as incoherent imprints? Come Sunday, and we will find the answer.

#5 Will the tag team championships be missed?

Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt just won the Raw tag team Championship
Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt just won the Raw tag team Championship

Tag team wrestling in 2017 was WWE's one of the plus points. They weren't the primary focus but played an overwhelming role.

Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt, and the Bludgeon Brothers being absent from the pay-per-view is not a good sign. Moreover, it has been just a month for the two behemoths and not even two weeks for the 'Woken Warriors' as being the champions.

If the only tag team match doesn't affect the title scenario, then it is detrimental to WWE tag team wrestling.

Will it be missed? As of know, we don't know anything.

#4 Can Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton redo their 2008 Royal Rumble classic?

Orton retained his WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2008
Orton retained his WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2008

Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton will not face each other for the first time at Backlash. Ten years earlier, they produced one of the most memorable matches at Royal Rumble history. That time the price was even higher- the WWE Championship.

The background did the bulk of the trick that year. This year, it has been built bluntly. The in-ring storyline won't be compelling if both of them don the role of a babyface.

Nonetheless, if these Superstars face each other, you come in with high expectations. The Charismatic Enigma and The Viper can fulfill or even exceed those expectations.

#3 Will Finn Balor turn heel?

<p>
Will Demon show his true colors?

Rusev? Missing. Asuka? Missing. Balor? Missing. These are three notable full-timers disregarded in Backlash. However, unlike the previous two, Balor has a slight probability of showing up.

The Demon King might follow Shinsuke Nakamura's path and turn heel. Firstly, the Good Brothers were separated from him.

Secondly, he failed to capture the Intercontinental Championship in an awkward fashion at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Thirdly, he lost clean to Rollins two times in a month.

He has always been proved second best against The Architect. This should be enough to stem the roots of jealousy which would justify his actions later on.

Moreover, its the most suitable storyline going for both of them now. But, will it occur at Backlash?

#2 Will the Dream Match deliver now?

They were friends earler but not now
They were friends earlier but not now

The 'Dream Match' at WrestleMania didn't live up to the expectations. However, the aftermath had confirmed that we didn't see the end of it. If that wasn't enough their altercation at the Greatest Royal Rumble added more fuel to it.

It is more than clear that Nakamura and AJ Styles can't look at each other. WWE hasn't done justice to the Artist's main roster run.

By utilising NJPW's one of the top talents in a better way, WWE can show them who is the real boss.

There is a larger picture playing in the background, and WWE knows it in a better way than us. For them to succeed, the 'Dream Match' MUST deliver now.

#1 Which match will main event the show?

Will Vince McMahon will show favoritism again to Roman Reigns?
Will Vince McMahon will show favoritism again to Roman Reigns?

Two decent matches can close the curtains at Backlash. On one corner is Styles vs Nakamura. It didn't do the honors at WrestleMania but there is more life in it now.

Nakamura is now an unethical and wicked heel who would do anything to win the WWE Championship. Styles is an aggressive and berserk face who is looking to teach Nakamura a lesson.

On the other corner is Reigns vs. Joe.

Reigns is the guy WWE wants you to look forward to. He hit the floor first but the referee awarded Brock Lesnar the victory in their steel cage match.

Meanwhile, Joe looks set to destroy anyone who comes in his path.

If it were any other promotion, it would have been the former. But anything can happen in the WWE.
