#8 Kevin Owens (c ) vs Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship
The bell rings to start the match and Kevin Owens slides out of the ring immediately. Rollins follows him out and sends him into the barricade back-first, before taking the attack to him in the ring as well.
Rollins with the early offence as he seems to be fighting with a chip on his shoulder here, as Kevin Owens looks a little overwhelmed with the offence that is coming his way at a frenetic pace.
Owens finally manages to stem the tide by going to Rollins’ ‘surgically repaired knee’ before asserting himself on the match with an incessant attack on on the same, just as the commentators plug Owens as a cerebral competitor.
He continues the assault, mixed in with his unique brand of trash talk, before Rollins turns the momentum his side out of nowhere with a huge clothesline. Rollins then quickens the pace of the match, mounting a flurry of offence which leads to an unsuccessful pin attempt.
He boots Owens out of the ring and sends him face first onto the barricade, before clearing the monitors from the Spanish announcer table to set them up. Privy to the danger, Owens cannily rolls back into the ring.
Rollins follows him back into the ring and tries to lock on a Pedigree, but the Champion fights back and sends the challenger into the bottom turn buckle in the corner. He hits the Cannon Ball twice, but Rollins rolls out of the way for the third attempt.
That still doesn’t deter Owens, who hits a package front suplex on Rollins that earns him an unsuccessful 2 count.
Owens then goes to the top rope, but is met with a kick to the face by Rollins, who tries to hit a Superplex on him. Owens fights out and hits a Gutbuster from the top followed by a Frog Splash that earns him a near fall.
Unable to put Rollins away, Owens sends him outside and onto the Spanish announcer table. He tries to hit a Running Senton but nobody home as he crashes down on the table.
Rollins gets him back into the ring and hits a Frog Splash followed by a Pedigree, but the pin is broken up when Chris Jericho – Kevin Owen’s best friend – comes out and drags Owens’ leg onto the bottom rope.
In the ensuing melee, the referee gets taken out and Jericho even gets into the ring to attack Rollins. Seth fights him off before hitting Owens with a pedigree, but the referee is knocked out and unable to make the count for the pin.
Stephanie McMahon comes down with another referee and gets him into the ring, just as Seth Rollins turns into a Pop-up Powerbomb from Owens. Cover. 1-2-3!
Kevin Owens screws Seth Rollins out of the match and retains the WWE Universal Championship! Surprisingly, no sign of Triple H!
