The legendary Luchador is back for a one-off!

What's the Story?

With the Greatest Royal Rumble only a few days away, the WWE Universe is wondering who just might show up for the event. It seems that some rumoured names will be in Saudi Arabia Friday night, as the WWE has confirmed today.

In case you didn't know...

Rey Mysterio has been rumoured to be returning to the WWE since his Royal Rumble appearance back in January. The Ultimate Underdog got a huge ovation from the crowd, and word backstage was that the company thought bringing Mysterio back would be great for business. The two sides never came to an agreement, however, and Mysterio would also suffer an injury before appearing for a match for NJPW's Strong Style Evolved.

Along with Mysterio, other former world champions like The Great Khali and Mark Henry were rumoured to be appearing for the event.

The heart of the matter

After 205 Live, WWE tweeted out that along with Kalisto earning the right to fight Cedric Alexander for the Cruiserweight Title at Greatest Royal Rumble, stars like Rey Mysterio, Mark Henry, and The Great Khali will be a part of the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble.

The Cruiserweight Championship Match featuring Cedric Alexander vs. Kalisto will take place at the Greatest Royal Rumble event at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. AST.
In addition, 13-time World Champion Randy Orton, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, three-time World Champion Rey Mysterio, former Universal Champion Kevin Owens, SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon and former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali have officially entered the first-ever 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match.

Author's take

With the official announcement of Rey Mysterio, Mark Henry and The Great Khali, along with Daniel Bryan, Kurt Angle, and Shane McMahon being revealed as participants, you have to wonder what surprise appearances we might get. While all of these men were recently announced, it was known for some time that they would be appearing in the match, what with previews for the event all but spoiling the match last week.

However, it's great to see that Mysterio will be appearing at the event, along with the rest of the legends. Now, though, the question is...is Mysterio sticking around after Friday?
