Xavier Woods suffered an achilles injury at a house show as part of the Australian tour around a week ago, which meant that former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has been drafted in to take over in the team with Big E.

Kofi Kingston had been dominating the singles divisions over the past year, which could be why Woods and Big E have been the ones representing the group in tag team matches throughout 2019.

Heading into this year's Crown Jewel, Big E and Woods were expected to once again represent the New Day, but the injury forced Kofi Kingston to sub in. This is interesting because the last time that Kingston and Big E teamed together was as part of last year's Crown Jewel event.

This shows just how much WWE has been pushing Kingston over the past year since he won the WWE Championship back in April and only lost it to Brock Lesnar around a month ago. This is something that WWE and Kingston himself are yet to address on WWE TV, whilst Brock Lesnar continues to defend the Championship that he won in a matter of seconds on October 4th when SmackDown made the move over to FOX.
