WWE Fastlane 2017: 5 twists that could happen at the PPV

Fastlane could be a really strong show.

WWE Fastlane is right around the corner and boy oh boy are we getting close to WrestleMania 33. So close, in fact, that it's unbelievably odd that we still have a pay per view to get to before we really ramp up the build for the showcase of the immortals. That being said, Fastlane is setting itself up to be a pretty fun night of wrestling.

There are title matches, grudge matches and a lot of room for surprises heading into the Milwaukee event with a blockbuster eight matches announced for the card thus far. We aren't saying all of them will be five-star classics, but what we are saying is that there's a certain degree of excitement in the air as fans anticipate some big developments on Sunday.

Of course, we've been in this position before and been let down dramatically by WWE, especially when it comes to Fastlane. However, if the New Day are to be believed then positivity is the key to happiness, which is why we're here to wet your appetites ahead of the final stop on the Road to WrestleMania. Sorry, but we just had to say it.

So without further ado, here are five twists that could happen at Fastlane.

#1. Lesnar screws Goldberg

Will Lesnar add fuel to the fire?

So many people have got it into their heads that Goldberg is walking away with the title that this would feel like a genuine swerve. As we understand it, Brock Lesnar isn't even scheduled to appear at WWE Fastlane and the only outside interference anyone is talking about regarding the Universal Championship match would be coming from Chris Jericho.

Lesnar spearing Goldberg or giving him an F5 would be a nice call back to when Goldberg assisted Eddie Guerrero in defeating Lesnar for the WWE Championship back at No Way Out 2004. Also, it would please a hell of a lot of fans who believe that Goldberg vs. Lesnar doesn't actually need the Universal Title in order to be successful. For what it's worth, we agree.

It's almost time for The Demon King.

#2. Balor returns

balor
The Demon is coming back soon!

He's been teasing it for weeks now and he even showed up on the latest set of NXT tapings. Finn Balor seems fit and ready to go and with WrestleMania 33 just a few weeks away, Fastlane seems like the perfect place for him to make his long-awaited return. Obviously, there are a number of questions surrounding who he'd face at the show, but we think we've got the answer.

Samoa Joe. You could have Joe defeat Zayn at the pay per view, only for the Samoan to continue to beat Zayn down after the match. Then, the lights go out and Balor slowly appears out of the shadows and eventually challenges Joe to a match at the showcase of the immortals. If that wouldn't give you goosebumps, then quite literally nothing will.

Gong.

#3. Undertaker costs Reigns

Will Taker cost Reigns?

Picture this: Roman Reigns has Braun Strowman right where he wants him during their match at Fastlane. He's all set to deliver a spear to the big man when the lights go out and suddenly The Undertaker appears on the ramp. Reigns is completely distracted, allowing Braun to hit his running powerslam and pin The Big Dog one, two, three.

It's an effective way in which to keep both men looking strong heading into WrestleMania, and let's be honest; it's the most logical way for this feud between Taker and Roman to finally get underway. After all, Reigns was the one who cost Taker his chance at the main event of WrestleMania back at the Royal Rumble. Just make sure this gets done please WWE.

Hey, we want some Bayley.

#4. Bayley retains

bayley
We have an extremely huggable champion

There are three things for certain in this life – death, taxes and Charlotte winning on pay per view. She's been the queen of them for well over a year now and despite the fact that she's going into her match with Bayley as the challenger, it seems fairly obvious that she'll be walking away as the victor. However, what if that didn't end up being the case?

So many people are just expecting Charlotte to take her unbeaten record into WrestleMania, but what if Bayley ends it all here and somehow manages to retain the belt? It would force Charlotte into a place she's never been before and she'd have to try and change up her game plan because you know, psychology in wrestling is actually quite fun to watch.

We conclude with the cruiserweights.

#5. Aries attacks Neville

Aries could be a big threat to the title

We'll just state it right out of the gate that we believe Neville should hold onto the Cruiserweight Championship for a long time. He's absolutely killing it as a heel right now and he's only going to get better and better, plus, there's nobody that can really take the belt off him right now. With that being said, we've got a man who will give it a right old good go.

Austin Aries has pretty much been cleared to return to the ring, and it'd be great for him to go into the ring following Neville's inevitable win over Gallagher and try to interview the champ. Then, before he even says anything, Aries drops him with his finisher and begins the build towards a match that could well steal the show at WrestleMania 33. Boom.
