Triple H hints at top indy stars making a WWE appearance

The future looks bright for all the cruiserweights out there

– The number of titles in the WWE have seen a steady decline over the years, and owing to the recent trend of many underutilized talents on the roster, the fans had been calling for the return of the cruiserweight title.

Their wishes could be fulfilled soon enough as the WWE announced a WWE Global Cruiserweight Series to be held on the WWE Network.

The series will be a 32 man tournament and will air from the Full Sail University Studios. Triple H was interviewed by Scott Fishman of the Channel Guide Magazine and spoke about the tournament, finding talents and more.

On talent scouting

Triple H said that he had to fill the spots for the 32-man tournament. He said that he not only wants the obvious cruiserweight stars but is looking for hidden diamonds in the wrestling universe. He stated that he has sent William Regal to scout such hidden talents all around the world.

“I'm not just trying to find the cruiserweights that are the obvious ones. I think those guys will be there, the top guys in the world. But I'm trying to find the undiscovered diamonds someplace else that will blow people's minds; someone who maybe hasn't gotten the opportunity yet to be seen. When we say 32, we're looking at every corner of the world.”

On tie-ups with Indie promotions

Independent promotions have always had amazing wrestlers who were not necessarily of a larger physical stature. Triple H said that had been looking at wrestlers in independent promotions such as Evolve, Rev Pro and others. He said that a wrestler would get the opportunity to feature in the tournament in the biggest company in the whole wide world.

He said that this would be an opportunity for the wrestlers to show their talent to the world.

“I'm open to working with other groups that are out there such as Progress, Evolve, Rev Pro and places like that. They have a lot of talent they work with, but those talents have that ability to do other things. It's an opportunity to be on a platform to be seen by millions around the world and become much bigger stars in their own right.”

On WWE’s scouting policy

Triple H said, that WWE being such a huge company, it looks for everything in a wrestler. He said that a wrestler is like a puzzle and that you have to get all the parts right. He said that a wrestler needs the right amount of wrestling abilities and personalities and cited John Cena, Rey Mysterio and Daniel Bryan as examples.
