What's the story?

Simon Grimm, who performed as Simon Gotch in WWE, was recently a guest on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast.

During his appearance, Grimm talked about a host of topics including his recent Ring of Honor debut and also gave his thoughts on the NXT brand and former tag team partner Aiden English. He surprisingly admitted that he didn't always didn't get along with English.

In case you didn't know...

Simon Grimm is a former WWE superstar and was one half of the tag team called The Vaudevillians, along with Aiden English.

The duo of English and Grimm were successful during their time in NXT, winning the NXT Tag Team Titles and holding it for a total of 61 days.

Earlier this year, Grimm was released from the WWE on 5th April 2017. Following a 90-day non-compete clause, Grimm made his return to the independent scene before making his debut for Ring of Honor

The heart of the matter

During his interview with the Two Man Power Trip Wrestling podcast, Grimm stated that he was glad to make his ROH debut and claimed that he himself was very glad regarding the video package that was used for his debut.

Grimm said that it was him who had shot and edited the video and the whole thing [also referring to his gimmick] was supposed to be a dark and self-destructive type.

When quizzed about the Vaudevillians, Sometimes we got along well and sometimes we were kind of like an old married couple and it was not so well but it was more because we both had this idea we were trying to get across and it didn’t always mesh with the other person's vision," Grimm stated.

Grimm added that the amount NXT pays its Superstars isn't very substantial. The 35-year-old said that whenever NXT hosts an outside show, the performers don't get a bonus regardless of the gate.

Author's take

Personally, I think Grimm has the capability to become a star in Ring of Honor and could turn out to be a solid singles performer for the top American promotion.
