What’s the story?

Former WWE superstar and Professional Wrestling veteran Al Snow has reportedly agreed to purchase American Independent wrestling promotion Ohio Valley Wrestling.

In case you didn’t know…

OVW was initially a member promotion of the National Wrestling Alliance from its inception in 1997 until 2000, as it eventually became the primary developmental territory for the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) and remained in that role until 2008.

In 2012, OVW also became the farm territory for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) (now Impact Wrestling). However, the relationship ended on November 2, 2013. As of December 2011, over 100 OVW alumni have appeared in WWE.

The heart of the matter

As per first announced by WDRB 41, former WWE European and Hardcore Champion Al Snow has now purchased Independent promotion OVW and will be taking over the company from Danny Davis, who is set to retire to Florida.

Following the announcement, Snow spoke with Fite TV and stated that as of right now, his plan is to create a great developmental center for wrestling talent to come find themselves and learn their craft from the some of the most experienced professional wrestlers in the world. (H/T: WrestlingInc)

“I've always said that when you attend a wrestling school, or a wrestling training academy of any sort, that you take it much like if you were going to a university. If you want to go for accounting, you go in, you pay your tuition, you ask the Dean, 'Ok, what's my professor?' and he goes, 'this guy's really good, he's very talented.' Well great! Who's he work for? What's he done? What kind of experience he has?”- Al Snow.

What’s next?

Following the departure of Danny Davis, Al Snow will now takeover OVW as their lead executive and as per stated by the man himself, he now hopes to create a better developmental platform for wrestlers of the future generation.

Author’s Take

In my opinion, Al Snow will definitely be a good leader for the OVW brand and will certainly be an ideal replacement for Danny Davis.
