WWE Live Event Results: Bournemouth (May 8th, 2017)

The WWE’s United Kingdom prospects got a special feature bout in Bournemouth. 

The WWE’s European tour continues with both RAW and SmackDown putting on live shows for the fans in major metropolitan cities across the continent. The WWE’s blue brand held a live show in Bournemouth, England on May 8th.

The event was headlined by the WWE champion Randy Orton defending his belt against AJ Styles and number 1 contender Jinder Mahal.

Shinsuke Nakamura took on Dolph Ziggler, whereas Luke Harper battled Erick Rowan. WWE United States champion Kevin Owens defended his strap against Sami Zayn despite claiming to be too sick to compete. Besides, the Usos defended their SmackDown tag team titles against The Colons and American Alpha.

Elsewhere on the card Sin Cara, Tyler Breeze and Fandango faced Aiden English and The Ascension. Mojo Rawley then faced Aiden English in a singles match. SmackDown Women’s champion Naomi defended her strap against Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Natalya and Carmella (w/James Ellsworth).

Furthermore, WWE United Kingdom champion Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Mark Andrews took on Pete Dunne, James Drake and Joseph Conners. The headlining fight saw The Viper defend his WWE championship against Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles. Here are the complete results for SmackDown’s (5/8/17) live event in Bournemouth, England:


#1 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler

Shinsuke Nakamura faced the Showoff and bested his rival, after a back-and-forth matchup. The two competitors will face each other at the upcoming SmackDown-brand exclusive Backlash PPV.

Result: Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Dolph Ziggler


#2 Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan

Former Wyatt Family members Luke Harper and Erick Rowan battled once again, with Harper managing to pull out the win.

Result: Luke Harper defeated Erick Rowan


#3 The Usos vs. The Colons vs. American Alpha (WWE SmackDown tag-team Championships)

The Usos retained their SmackDown tag team titles in the Queen’s country, after besting The Colons as well as American Alpha.

Result: the Usos defeated The Colons and American Alpha, and retained the WWE SmackDown tag-team titles


#4 Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn (WWE United States Championship)

Kevin Owens initially refused to wrestle and had come down to the ring wearing a tracksuit. Nevertheless, the reigning WWE United States champion, did, in fact, compete, going on to defeat his old friend Sami Zayn with a roll-up pin.

Result: Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn, and retained the WWE United States title


#5 Sin Cara and Breezango vs. Aiden English and The Ascension

Sin Cara, Tyler Breeze and Fandango took on Aiden English and The Ascension, with the former trio of Superstars managing to eke out a victory.

Result: Sin Cara and Breezango defeated Aiden English and The Ascension


#6 Mojo Rawley vs. Aiden English

Aiden English issued an open challenge following his loss, and the challenge was answered by the 2017 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Mojo Rawley. Rawley faced English in a singles match and quickly notched up the win.

Result: Mojo Rawley defeated Aiden English


#7 Naomi vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Carmella vs. Natalya (WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship)

WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Naomi faced Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Natalya in front of the raucous English crowd. The Glow Factor would successfully retain her title against her foes.

Result: Naomi defeated Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Natalya; and retained the WWE SmackDown Women’s title


#8 Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Mark Andrews vs. Pete Dunne, James Drake and Joseph Conners

WWE United Kingdom champion Tyler Bate teamed up with Trent Seven and Mark Andrews to take on Pete Dunne, James Drake and Joseph Conners. Bate, Seven and Andrews would pick up the win after a back-and-forth battle.

Result: Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Mark Andrews defeated Pete Dunne, James Drake and Joseph Conners


#9 Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. Jinder Mahal (WWE Championship Match)

The Viper defended his WWE championship against AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal in a Triple Threat match up. Orton would successfully retain his strap and close out the show for the fans in Bournemouth, England.

Result: Randy Orton defeated AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal; and retained the WWE Championship
