Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to retain his Championship title

The largest city in Michigan hosted one of the most incredible WWE Live Events, on December 27th, which saw WWE Superstars from the SmackDown Live roster come together to put up a promising show.

Hence, without any further ado let's take a look at the highlights of WWE's live event and the match results from Wednesday's show in Detroit, Michigan.


#1 The Usos vs The New Day: SmackDown tag team Championship

Well, what more do you expect from a match that features the best tag teams from the current roster?

Both the teams gave their absolute best and kicked off the show with a bang. It was a treat to witness The Usos and the New Day battle it out for the tag team championship.

In the end, The Usos emerged triumphant as they defeated The New Day to retain their title.

Result: The Usos def. The New Day

#2 Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan vs Becky Lynch and Naomi

The Riott squad has been an indestructible force on SmackDown since their arrival. The trio created havoc in the blue brand as they started picking on each of the female wrestlers one by one.

On Wednesday, Riott squad members, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan, took on Becky Lynch and Naomi while Ruby Riott remained ringside.

Despite receiving a huge pop from the crowd upon her return from filming the sixth movie of The Marine series, Lynch could not carry her team as was expected from her. Both Lynch and Naomi fell prey to the brutal attacks by Logan and Morgan who were the eventual winners of this match.

#3 Tye Dillinger vs Sin Cara

This match might have featured the defining moment of the year for Tye Dillinger as he teased a heel turn in his actions. He attacked Sin Cara even before the match started.

In a not so surprising ending, we saw Cara emerging victorious. Although the match was not that great in terms of the fight that was put up, one can't deny the impact that it can have in the coming weeks.

Will Dillinger be the new heel to look out for?

#4 Rusev, Aiden English and Mojo Rawley defeated Zack Ryder and The Ascension

Oh, it's Rusev Day, once again!

If you are a wrestling buff who spends a considerable amount of time on the internet scrolling memes, you might know how relevant Rusev Day is currently.

On Wednesday night, Rusev alongside English and Rawley, laid Ryder and The Ascension flat on the ground. The three then walked out to the jubilant sounds of victory as the crowd sang 'Rusev Day' in unison.

Result: Rusev, Aiden English and Mojo Rawley def. Zack Ryder and The Ascension

#5 Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton vs Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

While Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton have been in a feud with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for long, Bobby Rode and Baron Corbin were their new associates respectively.

Both the teams dominated the match equally. However, the team of Nakamura, Orton and Roode were determined to settle the scores against KO, Zayn and Corbin. Soon, they were able to establish their supremacy and walked out of the ring with a memorable win to their name

#6 Charlotte Flair vs Carmella vs Natalya vs Tamina Snuka in a Fatal 4 Way (SmackDown's Women's Champion)

Four of the strongest women on SmackDown battled it out for the blue brand's championship in Detroit.

Unfortunately, no one came close to Charlotte in the entire competition. After a few minutes in the entertaining match, Flair retained her title and once again walked out as the SmackDown's Women's Champion.

Result: Charlotte Flair def. Carmella, Natalya and Tamina Snuka.


#7 AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal - WWE Championship (Steel Cage match)

All hell broke loose when it was announced that the main event would feature "The Phenomenal One" defending his title against "The Modern Day Maharaja" inside a steel cage at the Detroit main event.

Amidst the immense amount of cheer from the audience, Styles went on to prove why he is considered the best wrestler in the world.

He went on to dominate the bout and retained his Championship title, to end the night.
