The WWE continued its tour of the Lone Star state, as the SmackDown brand put up another great live event in Hidalgo, Texas.

The main event of the evening saw the WWE Championship defended, as AJ Styles faced tons of adversity in a fast-paced matchup. Meanwhile, the SmackDown Tag Team Championships were also put on the line.

The event boasted a ton of action with a Steel Cage Match as well. So, without further ado, here are the complete results of WWE SmackDown’s live event in Hidalgo, Texas (January 14th, 2018)—


#1 The New Day vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin

The New Day entered to a loud ovation from the fans in attendance.

While the New Day mounted some fast-paced offence early on, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin took over midway. Nevertheless, the power of positivity prevailed as The New Day managed to best their foes, much to the delight of the fans.

#2 Becky Lynch & Naomi vs. Tamina & Lana vs. Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan

A 6-Woman Tag Team Match took place in Hidalgo, as Becky Lynch teamed up with Naomi in order to take on the teams of Tamina & Lana as well as Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan.

Lynch & Naomi dominated the majority of this matchup, with Lana being out-wrestled by most of her more experienced counterparts. In the end, Lynch & Naomi made a statement with a dominant victory.

Result: Becky Lynch & Naomi def. Tamina & Lana, and Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan


#3 Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Tyler Breeze & Fandango vs. Mojo Rawley, Mike Kanellis, Primo & Epico

The event featured yet another intriguing matchup—an 8-Man Tag Team showdown—as Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Tyler Breeze & Fandango took on Mojo Rawley, Mike Kanellis, Primo & Epico.

While Ryder and Breezango dominated the action throughout, Sin Cara did have his moments in the matchup too. The team maintained its momentum until the very end; picking up the victory.

#4 Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defended her title against Natalya in a Steel Cage Match.

The matchup received considerable praise from fans at the event, as both Flair and ‘Nattie’ put on a great show of athleticism and mat wrestling within the confines of the unforgiving Steel Cage. While Natalya did dominate long stretches of the matchup, Flair eventually outworked her for the victory, successfully defending her title in the process.

#5 The Usos vs. The Bludgeon Brothers vs. Rusev & Aiden English

Jimmy & Jey Uso defended their WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against not one but two teams in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match.

While The Bludgeon Brothers (Harper & Rowan), controlled the majority of the bout, the crowd was firmly behind Rusev & Aiden English. In fact, ‘Rusev Day’ chants echoed throughout the arena in Hidalgo. In the end, The Usos seized the momentum and rallied to successfully defend their SmackDown Tag Team titles.

Result: The Usos def. The Bludgeon Brothers, and Rusev & Aiden English

#6 Bobby Roode vs. Tye Dillinger vs. Baron Corbin

‘The Glorious One’ Bobby Roode took on Tye Dillinger and Baron Corbin in a Triple Threat Match.

While Dillinger and Corbin seemed to have the upper hand in the early going, Roode turned the match around midway. With the fans in attendance cheering him on, Roode managed to best both Dillinger and Corbin en route to his glorious victory.

That was followed by a matchup featuring a certain Maharajah--

#7 AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Randy Orton vs. Sami Zayn vs. Jinder Mahal

WWE Champion AJ Styles defended his title in a Fatal-5 Way Match against Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and Jinder Mahal.

The match is said to have been very intense and fast-paced, as Styles battled the odds with the numbers obviously stacked against him. In a back-and-forth matchup with a ton of action, Styles ended up pinning longtime rival Jinder Mahal for the victory.

Result: AJ Styles def. Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and Jinder Mahal
