AJ Styles defended the WWE Title in a steel cage match on the night

It may be holiday season for everyone around the world, but for the WWE Superstars, last night was just another day at work as the Smackdown Live roster landed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for yet another house show before the end of 2017.

The WWE Universe in Pittsburgh got a chance to witness some of the top stars from the blue brand such as Shinsuke Nakamura, Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens and WWE Champion AJ Styles.

#1 The Usos vs The New Day vs Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

The Smackdown Tag Team division is currently at its best right now, and last night, The Usos along with their arch rivals, The New Day, and Gable & Benjamin proved exactly why it is so.

The three teams, as expected, put on a splendid show once again, and Jimmy and Jey, who have been leading the blue brand’s tag division as champions, came out victorious and retained their titles yet again.

Result: The Usos defeated The New Day and Gable & Benjamin

#2 Sin Cara vs. Tye Dillinger

WWE has been recently testing a possible heel turn for Tye Dillinger at house shows and last night in Pittsburgh, “The Perfect 10” did show signs of tenacious heel tactics once again.

However, Dillinger failed to rack up a win against a resilient Sin Cara, who got an important win over Tye on the night.

Result: Sin Cara defeat Tye Dillinger

#3 Riott Squad (Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan) vs. Becky Lynch and Naomi

Becky Lynch recently made her return to the WWE, after completing filming Marine 6, however, “The Lass Kicker” ended up on the losing side last night.

The team of Logan and Morgan, along with Ruby Riott in their corner, perfectly outplayed the babyface team of Naomi and Lynch, outnumbering them and eventually getting the victory as well.

Result: Riott Squad defeated Becky Lynch and Naomi

#4 Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode vs. Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Next up, we had a mega 6-man tag team match between the face team of Nakamura, Orton and Roode against Corbin, Owens and Zayn.

This match was fast paced and, as expected, had some quality spots as well. The team of Orton, Nakamura and Roode prevailed victorious in a hard-fought win.

Result: Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode defeated Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

#6 Rusev, Aiden English and Mojo Rawley vs The Ascension and Zack Ryder

As expected, Rusev got the loudest pops from the crowd on the night and was hugely over with the WWE Universe. “The Bulgarian Brute” was also on the winning side, on the night, as the two teams put up a good match.

Result: Rusev, Aiden English and Mojo Rawley defeated The Ascension and Zack Ryder

#7 Charlotte Flair vs Tamina Snuka vs Natalya vs Carmella for the Smackdown Women’s Championship

The second title match of the evening saw Charlotte Flair defend her championship against her long-term rival, Natalya, Ms Money in the Bank, Carmella, and Tamina Snuka, who got a rare shot at the Smackdown Women’s Title.

All four of their performances were top notch, however, Charlotte’s performance, as expected, was head and shoulders about the rest as “The Queen” successfully managed to retain her belt.

Result: Charlotte defeated Natalya, Tamina Snuka, and Carmella

#8 AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal for WWE Championship in a Steel Cage match

The main event of the night saw AJ Styles defend his WWE title against former champion, “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal inside the steel structure. Mahal, who lost the title to Styles earlier in the year, got another shot at the championship after failing to capture the belt at Clash of Champions.

Styles and Mahal had a good match and the added stipulation certainly made the contest a lot more interesting. Mahal’s performance on the night was also really solid, however, “The Maharaja” was not able to dethrone “The Phenomenal One” as Styles retained the WWE title once again, this time inside the steel cage.

Result: AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal
