What's the story?

In an interview with TMZ, Demetrious Johnson claimed that he can beat WWE's Brock Lesnar if they were to ever face off in the octagon.

In case you didn't know...

Demetrious Johnson, popularly known as 'Mighty Mouse' is the first and current UFC Flyweight Champion.

He currently has the longest active championship reign in UFC with eleven successful title defences and is widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.

The heart of the matter

In the TMZ interview, Johnson said that even though there is a huge size difference between him and Lesnar, Lesnar's skill level is nowhere near his

Johnson described his perfect plan to beat Lesnar in the octagon.

Liver kicks all day. I''ll do what Alistair Overeem did. Just blast kicks, blast kicks. Hopefully, one of those liver shots puts him down, man.

Upon further probing by the TMZ reporter on the legitimacy of his plan, Mighty Mouse asserted that it is a foolproof plan.

It's a liver shot. If you hit anybody in the liver at the right shot, or you hit him in the liver, they're gonna go down regardless. The liver seizes and it just shuts the whole body down. Then I'll jump on Brock's back and choke him out.

What is next?

Demetrious Johnson recently beat Ray Borg at UFC 215 on September, 9 in his 11th successful title defense, surpassing Anderson SIlva's all-time record.

There are no confirmations about his next fight, but Cody Garbrandt recently called him out. We will have to wait and see if Johnson accepts the challenge.

Author's take

Demetrious Johnson is the best MMA fighter in the world today but even though his plan sounds well-thought, Lesnar is a monster at 6'3", 265 lbs compared to Johnson, who is 5'3", 125 lbs.

This huge size disparity can be too much for Mighty Mouse to just take Lesnar out with liver kicks.

The Beast Incarnate will probably just pick Johnson up and suplex him across the octagon, for all we know.

I don't see Mighty Mouse's plan being effective against Lesnar even if it's true that he has the skills advantage over Lesnar.
