CM Punk was perhaps one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry when he decided to quit WWE the night after Royal Rumble in 2014. Punk had stated that he was frustrated with WWE creative and was dealing with a threatening staph infection when he left. Over two years have passed since then, and a lot has happened in the Punk/WWE front.
Punk went on to sign with MMA giant UFC and started training for a debut inside the octagon. His progress was stopped in its tracks when he suffered a shoulder injury in October 2015 that would delay his debut until the next calendar year.

Now that Punk is slated to debut on the 10th September, the hype surrounding his first encounter in the octagon is starting to peak. Punk will face Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in Cleaveland, Ohio.
Punk recently appeared in an interview with Ron Kruck of Inside MMA to promote his first fight in the UFC. When asked if the former WWE employee had been receiving any sort of support from his former employer Vince McMahon, Punk replied, “No, he’s currently bankrolling a lawsuit against me, so I don’t think he’s going to be reaching out.”
Punk then did an impression of McMahon, “Hey pal, how are you doing? I’m suing ya, LOL”.
It is important to note here that Punk is being sued, not by the WWE but by their physician Dr. Chris Amman on grounds of defamation. Punk, however, believes that McMahon is a prime instigator in filing the lawsuit and might be bearing Amman’s legal costs. The lawsuit will be heard at trial in May 2018 where CM Punk and Colt Cabana have been accused of defaming and ridiculing Chris Amman’s professional skills.
Since Punk’s departure from the WWE, his relations haven’t been very cordial with the company. He claimed to be fired during the day of his wedding which he thought was a plan engineered by Vince. He had also said on the Colt Cabana Podcast that he and Triple H did not share a very cordial relationship. Punk snubbed the idea of taking on Triple H at WrestleMania 30 because he felt that he did not need that match despite the fact that he was supposed to go over.
Vince McMahon had later publicly apologized to CM Punk for firing him on his wedding day on the WWE Network’s very own Stone Cold Podcast. Vince had made it clear that he was willing to work with Punk again if it was best for business.
