WWE Monday Night Raw preview: January 25, 2016

New challenger or Owens?

The Game changer!Royal Rumble is in the books and our journey towards WrestleMania has officially begun. Last night, the WWE fans went through a roller coaster of emotions due to the pay-per-view, but as mentioned earlier, we are only at the starting point. The debut of AJ Styles, the dominant return of Sasha Banks, Sami Zayn’s revenge on KO and much more marked out the fans last night. Also read: WWE Monday Night Raw 7 March, 2016: ResultsThe expectations for Monday Night Raw are sky high after the solid outing that WWE had at Royal Rumble. Also, we might get some hints about what the company is planning for WrestleMania from this week’s episode. With that said, here is a look at the segments that WWE might present to us in the latest edition of Raw.

#5 Following up that classic

New challenger or Owens?

The opening match of 2016 Royal Rumble had everyone talking. It was the Last Man Standing bout between Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship and the match certainly set the bar high for rest of the show.

Ambrose came out on top in the encounter but the question is: what happens next? Both superstars have some solid chemistry and the chances of this feud continuing are high. However, at the same time, there are other superstars that deserve a shot at Ambrose. It would be interesting to see how WWE takes forward the angle on Raw. If we are bound to see a new challenger, it should be someone big.

#4 Two-time champion

Kalisto did it again

Kalisto once again shocked the WWE Universe by winning the United States Championship at Royal Rumble. He had a good match with Alberto Del Rio and the fans are unlikely to have complaints about the quality of the bout, but about the result, they might.

Kalisto will have his second United States Championship reign in a matter of weeks and unlike the last one, the WWE Universe would want to see something credible this time around. Del Rio, however, will be in no mood to give up, and we could see one more Del Rio vs. Kalisto showdown at Monday Night Raw. The League of Nations will probably have a big role to play in the storyline as well.

#3 The Boss is here

About time

Charlotte and Becky Lynch delivered big time at Royal Rumble. It was smart booking from WWE and the usage of Ric Flair throughout the match was simply genius. But what got the people talking was the post-match segment. Sasha Banks came out from nowhere and took out both Charlotte and Becky.

Sasha’s introduction into the Divas Championship picture was perfectly timed and the fans were firmly backing her in the segment. The situation can only go uphill from here and hopefully WWE would not ruin the storyline with some horrible booking. The future of Becky should be made clear on Monday Night as the fans need to know whether they are getting a three-way or a two-way battle for the title.

#2 AJ fn Styles

AJ is here

The first mark-out moment of Royal Rumble was when AJ Styles came in as the 3rd entrant of the match. He received arguably the biggest pop of the night and it was a great moment for the fans to witness. After AJ spent some quality time in the Rumble match, the fans got to see a short yet fun battle between him and Kevin Owens.

Owens came out winning in the end and AJ’s first outing at the Rumble match ended at the hands of Owens. We have no news on what WWE is planning for AJ next and we might get a clarification on the same at Monday Night Raw.

#1 Battle lines are drawn

And your new champion

There were two big takeaways from the Royal Rumble match. First was the potential storyline between Brock Lesnar and Wyatt Family whereas the second was the showdown between Roman Reigns and Triple H. These might be the potential main event matches for WrestleMania 32 and we certainly got a good glimpse at them.

After what the Wyatt Family did to Lesnar, the Beast is unlikely to wait and pick his moment. He is going to come back stronger and probably wipe out the entire family. As for Reigns and Triple H, WWE will look to push the same as their main event feud even if the fans hesitate to accept Reigns as a babyface rebel.
