WWE Money in the Bank 2019: 5 potential finishes for Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio - United States Championship

This is a straight rematch from WrestleMania as Rey Mysterio is given a second chance at the Samoa Submission Machine who was able to defeat him in mere minutes on The Grandest Stage Of Them All last month.

Mysterio defeated Joe on an episode of Raw a few weeks ago to force the rematch, but it's obvious that Joe isn't happy that he has to step back in the ring with the high flyer who seemingly has his number.

The United States Championship is a title that has always alluded Rey Mysterio and this weekend could finally be his chance at becoming a Grand Slam Champion, but with Samoa Joe standing in his way, it's hard to see The Master of the 619 coming out on top against those kinds of odds.

#5. Rey Mysterio becomes a Grand Slam Champion

As already mentioned, Rey Mysterio has always been alluded by the United States Championship, which is why he's had such a decorated career inside the squared circle but is yet to become a Grand Slam Champion.

Mysterio lost his match at WrestleMania because of an injury, and it appears that whatever angle the company was planning for that match will now be played out at Money in the Bank tomorrow night since they were unable to fit much into such a short match.

This would be Mysterio's first real chance to lift gold since his return to the WWE last year, and even though Samoa Joe has already proven that he can easily defeat him, it will be interesting to see if the wrestling world's ultimate underdog can come out on top one more time.

#4. Dominick gets involved to help his father become Champion

Dominick has signed a contract with WWE and is now officially part of the company alongside his father. The build-up to the United States Championship match at WrestleMania last month proved that Dominick was expected to play a part in the match, but because of Mysterio's injury, the company was unable to make the angle work in such a short amount of time.

Dominick has been an important part of the build-up to this match over the past few weeks and could be at ringside or even run out part way through the match to help his father. If Dominick provides the distraction, then Rey Mysterio would easily be able to turn around his fortunes in the match, which could be what the plan for the newcomer could be.

#3. Another injury angle?

Will Mysterio be one hundred percent on Sunday night?

Back at WrestleMania, Rey Mysterio suffered a leg injury and it was unknown up until the day of the show if Mysterio would be able to compete on The Grandest Stage of them all. Of course, Mysterio was able to step up and take on Samoa Joe, but lost in a short bout which proved that he was still quite injured.

For any fan who has followed Mysterio's career over the past few years, they will be aware that he has always been plagued with injuries. Mainly his knees, as his high-flying ability obviously comes at a price.

The former World Champion seems healthy enough at present after shaking off his WrestleMania injury, but if he's injured in the match once again, then Samoa Joe will be forced to work a quick finish to help him out of the ring so he can get treatment.

#2. Samoa Joe retains the United States Championship

Samoa Joe has waited more than a year to become a champion on the main roster, somehow he has been overlooked a number of times over the past few years and ever since his time on NXT he has been unable to make an impact.

This Championship means a lot to the Samoan Submission Machine because it means that he can now push for a shot at the World Championship in the future, but he won't be able to do that if he drops the title to Rey Mysterio.

Joe has proved his worth throughout his career and will definitely put on a fantastic match against the high-flyer, but the most likely outcome here is for Samoa Joe to once again defeat Mysterio and then attack his son, sending a message to future challengers.

#1. Dominick's interference inadvertently costs his father the match

Will Dominick play an important part in Sunday night's match?

It's been made too obvious that Dominick is expected to be part of tomorrow night's match with his father, which means that if the youngster interferes and helps his father win, then fans will say that it was too predictable.

Given a recent interview that Rey Mysterio was part of, there could be another angle here. Mysterio stated that he wanted to face his son in a hair vs mask match and then lose his mask so that Dominick can continue wearing it throughout his career instead.

It sounds like a fantastic set up for a feud between Mysterio and his son, but right now they are on the same page, so perhaps Dominick's interference tomorrow night could lead to his father losing the match rather than winning it, which would then open up a different kind of storyline between the father and son duo.
