Money in the Bank takes place this weekend and whilst it's seen as one of the most exciting pay-per-views of the year, there are also a number of records that could be broken as part of the event.

Another Mr. and Miss Money in the Bank will be crowned in Connecticut, as well as Becky Lynch becoming the first female to pull double duty with two championships when she defends both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships against Lacey Evans and Charlotte Flair.

The WWE Championship is on the line as Kofi Kingston defends against Kevin Owens, and WWE has booked a fantasy match for the Universal Championship since AJ Styles looks to dethrone 'The Beast Slayer' Seth Rollins.

The United States Championship is also on the line as Rey Mysterio takes on Samoa Joe, whilst Tag Team Championship matches for both brands are still yet to be confirmed.

#5 AJ Styles could make his own record

AJ Styles faces Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship on Sunday night at Money in the Bank, in a match that hasn't taken place for more than 13 years. Styles and Rollins last faced off back in 2006 when the two stars were independent wrestlers and Rollins was still known as Tyler Black, but it was still Styles who had his hand raised at the end of the night.

The two men have picked up a fierce rivalry ahead of their collision this weekend and even though it's not expected that Styles will come out on top against The Beast Slayer, if he does, he will become the first person in history to have held the WWE World Championship, The TNA World Championship, and the Universal Championship.

#4 Charlotte Flair could truly become The Queen

Charlotte Flair could win her ninth Women's Champion on Sunday night

Charlotte Flair has dominated the women's division in WWE over the past few years and is already an eight-time women's champion. Many believe that Flair will equal her own father's record in the coming years, but right now she has only managed to equal Trish Stratus' long-standing record.

Stratus is a former seven-time Women's Champion and one-time Hardcore Champion, which made her the most decorated women's wrestler in WWE history until earlier this year when Charlotte won the SmackDown Women's Championship.

If The Queen is able to dethrone Becky Lynch in her rematch for the Women's Championship that she lost at WrestleMania, then she will become a nine-time Women's Champion, and she will take the title of being the most decorated female wrestler in the history of the company, less than four years after she made her debut on the main roster.

#3 Alexa Bliss could equal CM Punk's record

Last year at Money in the Bank, Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman were victorious in their contract ladder matches and The Goddess later went on to win the Women's Championship later in the night.

Strowman was originally set to be part of the upcoming men's Money in the Bank ladder match until he was replaced last night by Sami Zayn, which means that Alexa Bliss is the only one who is now able to equal CM Punk's long-standing record of winning two back to back Money in the Bank ladder matches.

Punk was victorious back in 2008 and 2009 before Money in the Bank was made an annual pay-per-view and was successful with both of his cash-ins. Will Alexa Bliss be granted the same fate this weekend when she takes on seven other women in her second contract ladder match.

#2 Rey Mysterio could become the 21st Grand Slam Champion

Rey Mysterio has had an illustrious WWE career over the years that has seen him rise to the top of the mountain and become World Champion on more than one occasion. Mysterio returned to WWE last year and has been looking to pick up his first piece of gold since his return, a piece of gold that could come this weekend when he faces Samoa Joe.

Mysterio was easily defeated by The Samoan Submission Machine last month at WrestleMania but if he's able to overcome the odds this weekend at Money in the Bank then he will finally have captured the United States Championship and become the 21st Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.

Rey Mysterio became the company's 21st Triple Crown Champion a few years ago, but the United States Championship has always been the one that has alluded him.

#1 Becky Lynch makes history

Becky Lynch only has to appear at Money in the Bank to make history since she will be doing something that no woman has ever done when she pulls double duty in Connecticut.

Lynch defends the Raw Women's Championship against Lacey Evans and The SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair and is the first WWE Superstar to defend two Championships at a WWE pay-per-view since her boyfriend Seth Rollins at SummerSlam back in 2015.

Rollins walked into SummerSlam as a dual Champion but lost the United States Championship to John Cena, but was able to retain the WWE Championship against Sting that night, so it will be interesting to see if WWE follows the same playbook and are able to allow The Man to drop one of her Women's Championships to one of her challengers this weekend.
