What's the story?

It has been speculated for a while that following this year's WrestleMania, WWE will once again hold a draft which could see a number of their biggest stars switch brands. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding WWE Champion AJ Styles and a potential move to Raw if he loses his title to Shinsuke Nakamura next month at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know...

Styles faces Nakamura for the WWE Championship at the biggest event of the year in what has been seen as a fantasy match by much of the WWE Universe. It is thought that Nakamura could be set to lift his first piece of gold on the main roster as part of this match, which could leave Styles with nothing to do on SmackDown following the event.

There are a number of potential matches Styles could have over on Raw, as well as the obvious reunion of The Bullet Club, which could be why many fans are pushing for 'The Phenomenal One' to return to Raw in the upcoming Superstar Shakeup.

The heart of the matter

In order for Styles to move to Monday Night Raw, he would have to drop his WWE Championship, which doesn't sit well with the Champion himself. As part of yesterday's international media conference call, Styles finally addressed these rumours. (Transcript via Ringsidenews)

“I think it would be cool if we all were in The Club together. Who knows if that will ever happen, but it would definitely be fun. But, as far as moving to RAW, I don’t plan on losing to Shinsuke Nakamura, and I can’t imagine [WWE] would make the champ go to RAW.”

Styles obviously wants to retain his Championship at WrestleMania, but it has been rumoured for some time now that the company was looking to move Styles over to the Flagship show to open up more storyline possibilities.

What's next?

It has been speculated that the WWE Champion is injured right now and since he missed last night's SmackDown event, it is currently unknown as to whether or not Styles' rumoured injury is something to worry about just two weeks shy of WrestleMania.

Author's take

AJ Styles would be an incredible addition to Monday Night Raw and the possibilities are endless when it comes to storylines for the Champion. Even though SmackDown would definitely suffer as a result, it would be interesting to see Styles on Raw if only for the short term.
