In case you didn’t know…

Last week Smackdown Live commissioner Shane McMahon made an official WWE Title match between AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal for this week’s episode of Smackdown in Manchester.

During this week’s episode in Manchester, UK, Styles managed to finally end the reign of “The Modern Day Maharaja” at 170 days after defeating him in a hard-fought battle. Styles would go on to beat Mahal via the Phenomenal Forearm on the night and pin him clean in the middle of the ring to become a two time WWE World Champion.

The heart of the matter

After his win on Smackdown Live, AJ Styles was interviewed backstage of the Manchester Arena and was asked regarding how he felt about his second WWE Title win.

Styles stated that as of right now he can only think about the fact that he is a two time WWE Champion. He also pointed out how much the WWE Universe loves him and cares for him. “The Phenomenal One” then said that he is ‘one of them’— referring himself to be as equivalent the WWE Universe.

Styles then added that he is not the biggest guy in the company but he always tries to make sure that the WWE Universe always enjoy themselves by witnessing “The Phenomenal One” perform inside the ring.

The WWE Champion then stated that whenever he steps into a WWE ring, there isn’t anyone as good as him. Styles would end his statement by saying that there are a lot of similarities between him and his Survivor Series opponent Brock Lesnar and thinks that the only difference between the two men is that AJ is the current Smackdown Champion and Lesnar is not.

What’s next?

As for Styles, he will now have to overcome the mammoth task of defeating “The Beast” Brock Lesnar at this year’s Survivor Series at the Toyota Center, come November 19th.

Author’s Take

Personally, I am really happy that AJ Styles has won the WWE Title for the second time and has ended Jinder Mahal’s reign. “The Modern Day Maharaja” had one of the poorest WWE Title runs, in my opinion, and I really appreciate AJ’s kind words towards the WWE Universe. Styles stating that he is ‘one of us’ proves what a down to earth man “The Phenomenal One” really is.
