WWE News: AJ Styles talks about his WWE debut

The Phenomenal debut at Royal Rumble

The #1 contender for the WWE Championship, AJ Styles, recently spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News. In the interview, Styles talked about his debut in WWE and the upcoming 2K game along with some other topics.

AJ Styles made his much-awaited WWE debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event after he was revealed as the 3rd entrant in the Rumble match, which was contested for the WWE World Championship. When asked about that ‘Phenomenal’ debut, Styles said, “I mean, how can you forget something like that? Your debut and not only did you debut in WWE, but it was at the Royal Rumble and the WWE Universe went nuts for it. I don’t know if I can ever top that. I’m going to give it a shot, but I don’t know if I can ever top it.”

Styles will be a playable character in the upcoming game of 2K Sports, WWE 2K17. This game will mark his first appearance in a WWE video game and second overall. Although AJ himself is a big gaming fan, he claimed that his son is much more excited than he is.

“I think my son is more excited about it than I am, and I’m pretty freaking excited about this. Being in a game like ‘2K17’ is unbelievable. The stuff you can do in this game, the soundtrack that it has, the characters. So many great things about this game and now being a part of it, I’m on cloud nine,” Styles said.

AJ Styles worked with Kenny Omega as both of them were members of the Bullet Club in Japan. Styles stated that he always had faith in Omega, who recently won the NJPW G1 Climax tournament and now has a shot at the IWGP Championship. Here is what Styles had to say on his former colleague:

“I think Kenny was always capable of doing it. I don’t know if they didn’t see it at the time or maybe the group was so big that we were in that it was hard to see how great Kenny was. I’m so proud of him. I texted him to tell him how proud I was of him. He’s got a first under his book; he’s the first gaijin to ever win the G1. That’s huge. Everybody, we’re all so very proud of him. He got me on his one. Trust me, I wanted that bragging right, but I’m glad Kenny has it.”
